SPIRITUAL HEALTH. Most people identify themselves with their body, personality, memories, or name.
They say, ‘I am a doctor,’ ‘I am a father,’ ‘I am a woman,’ or ‘I am British, American.’ Yet from the perspective of many spiritual teachings, these are simply temporary roles we take on for one lifetime.
When the body dies, all of these labels lose their meaning, but consciousness continues. This leads to another question: If we are not the body, then who are we?
The answer that appears across many independent spiritual sources is very similar. A human being is not made up only of a body and a soul. There is an even deeper level of our existence: the spirit.
The soul and the spirit

Understanding the difference between the soul and the spirit can help us understand reincarnation, the evolution of consciousness, and the very nature of our existence.
The highest level of our nature is the Spirit – Higher Self. It is our original, immortal consciousness, coming directly from Source, God, or Universal Intelligence. The name we use is not really important.
The spirit is not born and does not die
The spirit is not born and does not die. It has no age, gender, nationality, or physical appearance. It was never a child and will never grow old. It exists beyond time and space, carrying the full memory of its evolution.
This is who we truly are, although during our lives on Earth we almost completely forget it.

Here and there
Many spiritual teachings describe a fascinating concept: the entire spirit rarely incarnates into the physical world all at once. Instead, it sends only a part of its consciousness into a particular lifetime.
You could compare it to a huge tree from which a single branch grows.
The branch has its own experiences and develops independently, but it never stops being part of the whole tree. In a similar way, the soul remains deeply and inseparably connected to the spirit.
True Soul
The soul is therefore an individual expression of the spirit. It enters the physical world, experiences different bodies and lifetimes, and gathers the experiences needed for its continued growth. You could say that the spirit is the observer of the entire journey, while the soul is the traveller.
The soul is what creates our personality for a particular incarnation. It experiences emotions, makes decisions, and learns about love, forgiveness, courage, humility, and many other aspects of existence.

Footprints in the sand
Every lifetime leaves a lasting imprint on the soul, and those experiences remain with it even after the physical body dies.
This is why many people who have had near-death experiences or deep hypnotic experiences describe themselves as still being the same person they were during their physical life, even though they no longer have a physical body.
They retain memories, a sense of identity, and an awareness of their personal history.
It is the soul that carries these experiences forward
According to many accounts, life on Earth is not a random event. Before beginning another incarnation, the soul goes through a process of preparation.

Experiences from previous lifetimes are reviewed, important lessons are chosen, and relationships and circumstances are considered that may create the right conditions for further growth.
This does not necessarily mean that every detail of our life has been programmed in advance. It may be more helpful to think of it as a travel plan.
Choices we make
The destination may be known, and certain important places may have been chosen to visit, but how we get there depends on the choices we make along the way.
Free will remains one of the most important principles of existence. It is precisely because we have the freedom to choose that our experiences have real meaning.
Birth, therefore, does not mean that a completely new consciousness has been created. It is simply the moment when the soul connects with a developing biological body.
If it fits, wear it

The body can be thought of as an incredibly sophisticated biological suit that allows consciousness to function within the physical world. It is limited by the laws of physics. It ages, becomes ill, and eventually dies.
The soul simply uses the body as its vehicle.
At the moment of death, the soul does not cease to exist. It separates from the body, much like taking off your clothes at the end of the day.
This may be why so many people who have experienced clinical death describe an overwhelming feeling of relief, lightness, peace, and returning home. The heaviness of the physical body disappears, and consciousness remains. After leaving the physical world, a process often described as a life review begins.
Contrary to many religious ideas, this is not necessarily like a courtroom where someone judges us and decides our punishment or reward. There is no one handing out punishments or rewards.
Instead, the soul experiences its entire life from a much broader perspective than the one it had while living on Earth.
It sees events in a much deeper way. It understands its own motivations as well as the motivations of other people. It can experience the emotions of those it encounters.

If it caused someone pain, it experiences that pain.
If it helped someone, it can also experience the positive impact of its actions. This is not punishment. It is a process of deep understanding. Through this understanding, consciousness continues to grow.
After this stage, the soul returns to a reality that many describe as their true home. There, it encounters other souls belonging to the same developmental group.
Reincarnation
Many accounts suggest that we have been travelling through different lifetimes alongside the same consciousnesses for a very long time.

Our roles may change from one lifetime to another. The person who is our father today may once have been our child. Our current partner may once have been a friend or even an adversary.
And someone we consider our greatest enemy may turn out to be a soul that agreed to play a difficult role simply to help us develop certain qualities.
From the human perspective, this can be difficult to understand or accept. But from the perspective of the soul, life may look completely different.
It is not comfort that matters most. It is growth.
There is, however, another very important part of this picture. The soul is not the end of our evolution. Beyond the soul is the spirit, a much greater consciousness with which the soul remains connected at all times.
Higher Consciousness
Some people describe this as the Higher Self, while others call it the Oversoul or Higher Consciousness. You can imagine our current personality as just a small part of a much greater intelligence that exists beyond time.

This may be why so many people who have profound mystical experiences describe the feeling of remembering something they somehow always knew. They did not necessarily gain completely new knowledge.
Instead, they temporarily reconnected with their own spirit. When we look at the human experience this way, a very simple model begins to emerge.
At the highest level is Source, the infinite intelligence from which everything originates. From Source emerge spirits, individual expressions or sparks of consciousness.
The spirit expresses itself through the soul, and the soul uses the mind and body to experience the physical world. The body is therefore simply the outermost layer of this entire structure.
It is a tool, not our true identity
The mind helps us function within physical reality. The soul gathers experiences. And the spirit holds the greater awareness and guides the entire process of evolution. Perhaps this is why, after deep spiritual experiences, so many people stop asking:
‘What can I gain in this lifetime?’

And instead begin asking: ‘What did my soul come here to learn?’ At that point, the way we see everything can begin to change. Difficult experiences are no longer seen only as misfortune. They can also become learning opportunities.
Relationships stop feeling like random encounters and begin to have a deeper meaning. Death no longer represents the end, but becomes a transition into another stage of the journey.
From this perspective, we are not physical beings who occasionally have spiritual experiences. We are eternal spirits who, through the soul, experience a temporary human life to gradually discover ourselves, expand our awareness, and return to the fullness of consciousness from which we originally emerged

We are spirits in the material world here to learn what our soul is here to learn.

Great post Mike. We certainly do not die – however I believe to reincarnate over and over does not make sense. One says its to learn, so then so is our mind wiped before we come back. Suggest reading David Icke’s books on the The Trap or his most recent The Road Map. Makes alot of sense. Cheers Dennis
