A 13-year-old boy was hanged after Britain’s army of occupation discovered a painting of Adolf Hitler in his bedroom. All literature and art relating to Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich were collected, confiscated and burned.
The fleet sped from the Atlantic to their German home port right under the nose of the Royal Navy and RAF. It was a German tactical victory and a failure of British intelligence and coordination.
Typically, a Red Army brigade would enter a village and gather together the community’s residents. Then, a Red Army officer would randomly pick a victim, typically a teenage boy or girl. The victim would be publicly hanged as the horrified villagers looked on.
As men, their women and children were disembarked from Allied shipping, trucked or entrained to waiting Red Army troops, these captives were massacred in groups.
