‘Since the day we lifted the blockade, we have exported more than 40 million barrels of oil,’ Ghalibaf said in a television interview. He dismissed earlier skepticism about the impact of sanctions relief.
The lifting of sanctions was a key component of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding signed in June, which also included the release of frozen assets and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Ghalibaf also pushed back against claims by US President Donald Trump that the released funds could only be used to purchase American agricultural products.

‘The Central Bank can purchase any goods it needs, at any price and in any currency worldwide,’ Ghalibaf stated, asserting Iran’s full control over the use of its assets.

The Iranian parliament speaker said Tehran intends to ‘increase the prosperity of the Strait day by day,’ with plans to boost maritime traffic and lower insurance fees for vessels transiting the waterway.

‘We must show the world that security here is increasing day by day,’ he added, suggesting that the strait’s reopening would be accompanied by a broader effort to restore confidence in the key global shipping route.
Overnight into June 18, Iran and the United States remotely signed a memorandum that provides for an end to the military conflict that began on February 28.

Senator Graham was a steadfast friend of the Iranian people, Prince Pahlavi says
Iran’s Prince Reza Pahlavi offered condolences following the death of US Senator Lindsey Graham on Sunday, calling him a “steadfast friend of the Iranian people” and a defender of freedom.
Pahlavi said Graham had stood with Iranians “when friends were seldom found” and had used his voice to amplify those fighting for justice.
“His support for Iran’s Lion and Sun Revolution earned him the title ‘Uncle Lindsey’ among Iranians. He will be remembered with profound gratitude and deep respect,” Pahlavi said in a post on X.
The Iranian prince extended condolences to Graham’s family, colleagues, the people of South Carolina and the United States.
The senior Republican lawmaker from South Carolina died after a “brief and sudden illness,” his office said in a post on X. US media reported that emergency personnel had responded to a call for cardiac arrest at his Capitol Hill home on Saturday night.
Graham backed Iranian opposition
Graham told a large gathering of Iranian opposition supporters in Munich in February that it was “a time of choosing.”
“I choose the Iranian people over the murderous ayatollah. It is time for him to go,” he said as he waved Iran’s pre-1979 Lion and Sun flag.
He said he had been “dreaming of a free Iran” and urged people around the world to speak out in support of Iran’s opposition movement.
Graham was also featured in Iranian government-aligned messaging during the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran, where placards showed his face alongside US President Donald Trump beneath red target symbols.
A longtime voice on foreign policy, Graham was a prominent supporter of Israel and Ukraine and a staunch critic of Iran’s government. He consistently advocated a hard line toward US adversaries. His Senate website said he had “consistently pushed for outcomes in the War on Terror that protect our long-term national security interests.”
Tributes pour in
Trump called Graham “one of the greatest people and senators I have ever known” and described him as a hard-working patriot.
After Trump became president, Graham became one of his closest allies in Congress and a frequent golf partner.
“Israel has lost one of its greatest friends. America has lost a great patriot. I have lost a beloved friend,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.
Graham had only recently returned from Ukraine and had been scheduled to appear on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday morning, the network said.

We just witnessed one of the biggest military developments in the Middle East in months. It is being reported that a major ground offensive by the Houthis has enabled them to take control of the port city of Mocha right on the coast of the Red Sea, Zuqar Island and the rest of the Hanish island chain, and Mayun Island which is located in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait at the south entrance into the Red Sea. This is being called a “strategic disaster” for the United States and Saudi Arabia, because it will give the Houthis an iron grip on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Needless to say, investors were spooked by this news. Yesterday we were talking about how Brent crude had suddenly risen to $100 a barrel, but today it shot up to $107 a barrel. West Texas crude is up to $102 a barrel, and that is really freaking people out. Unfortunately, there is no end in sight for this crisis.
So much has changed within the past 24 hours.
The Houthis have successfully captured the most important Yemeni port city on the coast of the Red Sea…
This was a brilliant strategic move by the Houthis.
One former Yemeni official is claiming that outside intervention would be required to turn things around at this point…
In addition to conquering Mocha, the Houthis also took control of a number of strategically important islands located in the southern portion of the Red Sea…
Up to now, the Houthis have been lobbing missiles at Saudi tankers from a long distance.
That has been effective, but controlling these islands will allow them to fire at Saudi tankers from very close range.
That is why this is being called a “strategic disaster” for the United States and Saudi Arabia…
Commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has been almost completely choked off.
Now the Houthis are in position to strangle commercial traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait as well…
The war in the Middle East just got a lot more serious, and on Thursday the price of oil really spiked…
If we don’t witness some sort of a diplomatic miracle, things could get a lot worse.
Goldman Sachs is warning that the price of oil could potentially hit $120 a barrel, and Bank of America is claiming that it could actually reach $150 a barrel in a worst case scenario…
We are in far more trouble than most people realize.
The Iranians truly believe that they now have the upper hand, and they are openly mocking us…
Over the past couple of months, the Iranians have been responding to our attacks.
