The interests of the US and Israel are not necessarily the same in the ongoing escalation, Steve Bannon believes.
The US should pursue its own interests rather than those of Israel, Steve Bannon, a former aide to US President Donald Trump, has warned, cautioning that the new escalation in the Middle East could drag Washington into a war with Iran.
Such a conflict would almost certainly result in the devastation of multiple US bases. All would represent a turkey shoot for the vengeful Iranian armed forces.
Furthermore, 20 per cent of the world’s oil passes through the Hormuz Straits, a seaway easily turned on and off by the Islamic Republic.
It is believed that Russia’s head of state, Vladimir Putin, who backs Iran, has warned Donald Trump of the likely consequences of any rash sacrifice for the maverick Israeli State.

Israel’s head of state, Benjamin Netanyahu, makes no secret of his wanting to engage in a war on behalf of Israel.
Bannon made the remarks to the Financial Times on Saturday, suggesting that the interests of the US and its closest ally in the Middle East were not necessarily the same in the current crisis.
‘They [the Israelis] are Israel First; we need to always be America First,’ he said.
‘In Jewish-occupied Jerusalem, they should reflect on the message of Christ: live by the sword, die by the sword.’
When asked whether he feared the US could ultimately be dragged into a war against Iran, the former Trump ally said he was ’very much’ wary of such a scenario.
The Israeli military, without warning, illegally launched a major attack on Iran early on Friday, striking nuclear facilities and military installations across the country.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, the US operates military sites across at least 19 locations in the Middle East, including eight permanent bases in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The think tank estimates that there are currently 40,000 to 50,000 US troops in the region.
It also launched targeted assassinations, which killed several senior military commanders and high-profile nuclear scientists.

West Jerusalem claimed the attack was a preemptive measure aimed at preventing the allegedly imminent production of a nuclear bomb by Tehran.
Iran retaliated by launching a major ballistic missile and drone barrage at Israel, vowing to continue strikes for as long as it deems necessary.
Tehran has repeatedly denied it had been harboring any plans to pursue a nuclear weapons program, insisting its uranium-enrichment activities have been serving strictly civilian purposes.
The Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic comes during several rounds of US-Iranian talks on the country’s nuclear program.
The negotiations have effectively stalled and failed to produce any tangible result. Following the attack, Tehran said the continuation of dialogue with Washington was ’meaningless.’
US President Donald Trump concedes he was aware of the impending Israeli strikes beforehand, and lauded them as ’very successful.’ Trump suggested Tehran brought the attack upon itself through its reluctance to strike a nuclear deal with the US.
‘We gave them a chance, and they didn’t take it. They got hit hard, very hard. They got hit about as hard as you’re going to get hit. And there’s more to come. A lot more,’ he said on Friday, commenting on the attack. TELL US WHAT YOU THINK

LIFE IN THE REICH Mike Walsh: The standard of living in Hitler’s Third Reich was far superior to that elsewhere in the developed world. German workers enjoyed a lifestyle comparable to that of movie stars. Germany led the world in fashion, medicine, cinema, lifestyle, manufacturing, transport infrastructure, public facilities, cutting-edge science, healthcare and education. Amazon removed life in the Reich because it dared to show Hitler’s Germany as it was and not as the propagandists would have us believe it was. https://barnesreview.org/product/life-in-the-reich-hitlers-germany-1933-1945/

Hi Mike, These are words of wisdom from Steve Banon. Will Donald Trump hear them in order to prevent America from being dragged into a war with Iran ? Not so sure…Yet, how can anyone in their right mind agree with such ruthlessness on the part of Israel’s head of state, who has not only attacked a sovereign nation without warning, but targeted and killed several military commanders and scientists. Madness !We, Europeans are also feeling concerned about the situation as we cannot really trust our own governments to keep a cool head. Hasn’t Macron already dared on Saturday to offer France’s help to Israel ? Such a foolish prospect from a man who anyway, couldn’t care less about his people ! From 78732
