MICHAEL WALSH: SINCE 1945 – the end of World War II – Western Europe and later Central Europe were absorbed and tightly controlled by the hegemonic United States.
Remember, in 1945, Britain and many of the European nations held and profited from vast colonies and worldwide dominions. In 1945, the British Empire and its Dominions were still a colossus upon which the sun never set.
EUROPE A COLONY OF WASHINGTON AND WALL STREET
As part of the new order, Westminster meekly transferred control of its overseas and domestic resources to the United States: Domestic policy to Washington, control of its colonies and dominions to Wall Street banking houses.
The rest of the control colonizing European nations followed suit: the overseas interests and resources of Spain, Portugal, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, were all ceded to the all-powerful United States.
ONE CANNOT ARGUE WITH FACTS

The EU Central Bank is a branch of the Goldman Sachs banking houses of Wall Street. Europe’s foreign policy – even its defense was Washington’s responsibility. European media was controlled by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
In effect: Europe was as colonized and controlled by the United States as was the Soviet Bloc (1945-1991) controlled by Moscow.
REALPOLITIK

Having wisely realized that the United States is no longer the only world power US President Donald Trump concedes that today’s world is many-sided. Washington and Wall Street have no choice but to reshape their alliance with their allies and their interests.
The United States has now entered a period in which it rids itself of its former allies and their interests.
As a consequence, heads of state of America’s European colonies – like those of the former Soviet Bloc – find themselves independent.
NOT A PRETTY SIGHT
Like children freed from their mother and schoolteachers’ control and told to get on with it, the immature and inexperienced political governments of the UK and the EU have neither the wit nor the experience to go it alone.

With the exception of Victor Orban, Hungary’s prime minister, the squabbling heads of the UK and EU states and their governing elite lacking experience in statehood are patently out of their depth.
WHAT NOW?
Eurasia (Europe and Russia) needs a continent-wide structure akin to the African Union or CELAC, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
‘’For at least the past 300 years Russia has been an inseparable part of European culture and politics. The periods of Russia’s most active participation in European affairs were marked by stability and peace on the continent,’ adds Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

THE GREATER EURASIAN PARTNERSHIP (GEP)
What could the Greater Eurasian Partnership provide to the continent? i.e., the Atlantic to the Bering Strait (Alaska) colossus?
- A network of free trade zones
- Inter-bloc trade and economic partnerships
- Expanded settlements in national currencies and independent payment systems
- Development of Eurasian transport corridors
- A foundation for indivisible security on the continent
- Territorial integrity, economic sovereignty and cultural and social protection for member states
- A common platform to settle disputes and prevent conflicts.
FACT OR FICTION?

2015: Russia’s head of state Vladimir Putin proposed GEP as part of the path to a just, multipolar world order based on equal and mutually beneficial cooperation.
2016: He named the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as a key integration hub, stating the project is open to all, including the EU. Moscow holds no grudges but won’t play a one-sided game, he said.
2017: Putin described GEP as a civilizational project that would transform Eurasia’s political and economic landscape. ’We must set an example for a joint, innovative, and constructive future.’
2022: Amid Western sanctions and asset freezes, Putin called for a comprehensive GEP economic strategy, stressing that more nations are pursuing independent policies.

June 2024: Putin urged expanded settlements in national currencies, independent payment systems, and transport corridors within GEP.
The same month Putin emphasized the GEP role as the socio-economic foundation of a new system of indivisible security and instructed the Foreign Ministry to advance international agreements accordingly.
March 2025: Russia is not imposing anything but rather initiating a discussion on a vision for Eurasia’s continental structure, which could serve as the foundation for a future security architecture, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
