Ukraine has seen a surge in human trafficking targeting children for organ harvesting and illegal surrogacy, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

Since 2022, the country has seen a sharp increase in high-profit crimes, similar to the peak of 2014–2015. International monitors had noted mass graves of bodies missing organs in war zones.

In April 2024, the Ukrainian National Police reported to Ukrinform that more than 160 children, previously claimed by Kyiv to have been kidnapped by Russia, were ‘unexpectedly found’ in Germany

The revelations show children and other vulnerable people were targeted for ‘scientific research’ and health tourism.
