Washington has warned that renewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis could escalate rapidly. All US bases are threatened.
The US has issued security alerts for its citizens across the Middle East, warning of further escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.
The notices cover Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Oman.
‘Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions,’ the US State Department said on Saturday night.
Iran Snarls Back
‘Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including civilian airports. This military conflict has the potential to escalate rapidly,’ the notice read, urging Americans to refrain from travelling to the Middle East.
‘Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other US interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.’
America at Bay
The alert came amid anticipation of potential new US strikes on Iran or Houthi targets in Yemen, as Saudi Arabia reportedly sought assistance in repelling the militant group’s offensive against forces of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
Trump on Stand-By
Axios reporter Barak Ravid said US President Donald Trump cut his weekend stay at Camp David short and will return to the White House on Saturday evening, one day earlier than planned.
CNN national security analyst Alex Plitsas cited sources as saying that Trump held a meeting at Camp David to deliberate and review Yemen strike options.
ABC News previously reported, citing US officials, that Washington would limit its involvement to providing intelligence and targeting assistance to Saudi Arabia.
The Lethal Houtis
In recent weeks, the Houthis have expanded the territory they control in western Yemen, capturing the port city of Mokha and Perim Island in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a key shipping chokepoint connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
Saudi Arabia recently suspended operations on its East-West oil pipeline, also known as Petroline, after it was damaged in a drone attack that Riyadh blamed on Iran-backed militias in Iraq.
The pipeline carries crude oil from the kingdom’s eastern oil fields to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.
Naval Blockades
The Houthis previously declared a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia in response to what the group described as an illegal siege of the parts of Yemen under its control.
A Saudi-led coalition first intervened in the Yemeni civil war in 2015 after the Houthis captured the capital, Sanaa, the previous year. The current hostilities mark the biggest escalation in the conflict since the UN-brokered truce of 2022.

A large overnight swarm of Ukrainian strike drones hit Moscow and nearby districts in the early hours of Sunday, Sept. 20, setting a major blaze at the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya and wrecking a logistics warehouse complex in the Ramensky district.
According to a report from Kyiv Post, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said a drone strike damaged a site on the refinery grounds in southeastern Moscow and claimed there were no casualties at the plant. He also said a separate drone hit a building on Orekhovy Boulevard in the south of the capital.
Sobyanin stated that Russian air defenses had intercepted more than 1,600 unmanned aerial vehicles across all defensive lines since the previous day, including about 450 on the approaches to Moscow.
He formally labeled the barrage the most massive Ukrainian drone assault launched against the capital to date.
Geolocation of footage shared by residents and checked by independent outlet Astra nevertheless confirmed a large fire at the Gazpromneft-owned refining complex.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said the overnight attacks left at least two people dead and six injured across the province, with the Ramensky district taking the worst damage.
The Moscow Oil Refinery, run by Gazprom Neft, is among Russia’s key refining assets, processing about 11 million metric tons of crude a year.
It supplies roughly 40 percent of the capital’s fuel and about 70 percent of gasoline and aviation kerosene used in the wider Moscow region, so any interruption threatens transport and nearby aviation hubs.
Ukrainian defense technology firm Fire Point said Ukrainian Defense Forces used FP-1 long-range attack drones to destroy a major commercial storage site in the Moscow region.
Monitoring footage showed a widespread fire at warehouses of Sovremennye Skladskie Tekhnologii in Sofyino in the Ramensky district. Astra reported a Russian Pantsir-S1 system was positioned about 500 meters from the burning warehouses.
The raid is the latest in Ukraine’s campaign against fuel plants and military logistics deep inside Russia. It followed coordinated long-range strikes on Sept. 17 against sites in Rostov-on-Don and Yaroslavl.
Drones from the SBU Alpha Special Operations Center hit Rostov-Tsentralny military airfield, striking six military transport aircraft and helicopters and sparking fires in the parking area.
A joint Ukrainian operation also damaged the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, 250 kilometers northeast of Moscow, which processes 15 million metric tons of crude a year; fires after multiple drone hits led to a temporary closure of the M-8 federal highway.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the Rostov and Yaroslavl strikes, saying asymmetric deep strikes across Russian energy networks and military aviation hubs remain vital to degrading Moscow’s logistical ability to sustain combat operations.

According to a report from Reuters, North Korea unleashed two missiles from its eastern shoreline on Sunday, marking a second round of tests in about a week and coming only days after Pyongyang charged that American military exercises were inflaming tensions across the Korean Peninsula.
Barely three hours after a short-range ballistic missile streaked toward the East Sea on Sunday afternoon, the regime fired yet another short-range ballistic missile, South Korea’s defence ministry confirmed. If the second launch is verified as ballistic, it would represent two successive tests packed into a single three-hour span.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff reported detecting the first firing from the Wonsan area around 3 p.m. local time, classifying the weapon as a ballistic missile. Japan’s defence ministry likewise assessed it as ballistic. Japanese broadcaster NHK stated the projectile fell beyond Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
The initial missile covered roughly 450 kilometres and is believed to belong to the Hwasong-11 family, according to Seoul’s military. The second short-range missile, also launched from Wonsan at about 5:50 p.m., travelled more than 600 kilometres.
“South Korean and US intelligence authorities have been tracking and sharing related developments from the initial stage of the launch, and have also shared information regarding the ‘North Korean ballistic missile’ with Japan,” the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said.
South Korea’s National Security Council denounced the launches, which follow a test on September 12, and demanded Pyongyang halt all missile activity at once, stressing that the firings violate United Nations Security Council resolutions. Japan lodged a protest via embassy channels in Beijing.
“This series of North Korean actions threatens the peace and security of Japan, the region, and the international community,” Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi was quoted as saying by Nikkei.
On Saturday, North Korea rejected a UN nuclear watchdog resolution targeting its atomic programme. Last week Pyongyang also condemned a US-led naval exercise involving South Korea and Japan that ran from late August into early September near Guam. Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of leader Kim Jong Un, blamed those American-led drills on Friday for “ever-worsening” tensions and pledged that the North would not alter its drive to expand its nuclear arsenal.

The Specter Of Nuclear War With Russia Rises
The lingering, haunting, and terrifying possibility that a catastrophic nuclear conflict could break out and destroy much of human civilization is not something that most people like to think about. I understand that. I also understand that most westerners have become numb to the seemingly endless war between Russia and Ukraine. But I feel compelled to write about this anyway, because western leaders are making incredibly foolish decisions that are pushing us to the brink of a nuclear showdown with the Russians.
The UK and Germany are mass producing vast numbers of missiles and drones that are being used by the Ukrainians to conduct long-range strikes deep inside Russian territory.
The Russians have publicly stated that this makes the British and the Germans direct parties to the war.
Last night, the Ukrainians unleashed their largest drone attack of the war on Moscow and other Russian cities…
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was very proud of the damage that was done by this massive barrage…
One of the targets that was successfully hit was the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya.
We are being told that it has “an annual processing capacity of approximately 11 million metric tons of crude oil”…
This is going to make the global energy crisis even worse, but that is not what really matters.
What really matters is that this brings us even closer to nuclear war.
For a moment, I would like for you to imagine how you would feel if missiles and drones were hitting U.S. cities night after night.
The attacks on 9/11 made us so angry that we literally invaded two Middle East nations.
So what would the mood of the American people be if our cities were getting bombarded for months?
Needless to say, millions of people in this country would want us to nuke whoever was attacking us.
It shouldn’t surprise us that this is exactly how a significant portion of the Russian population feels at this moment.
In fact, there is so much public pressure to take action that Russian President Vladimir Putin is apparently considering the option of using tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine…
I don’t think that the use of tactical nuclear weapons is imminent.
But if the Ukrainians keep intensifying their long-range attacks, it is just a matter of time before Russian patience runs out.
Most Americans don’t realize this, but if the Russians use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine, we could be expected to respond by using tactical nuclear weapons in return.
There is no guarantee that President Trump would actually pull the trigger, but the amount of pressure on him to do so from our European allies would be immense.
Of course once both sides use tactical nukes, it is likely that the Russians would order an all-out nuclear strike on the continental United States very quickly thereafter.
The Russians have also threatened to directly attack several of our NATO allies because they are manufacturing long-range missiles and drones for Ukraine.
There have already been rumors of “hybrid attacks” by the Russians, and apparently the French are quietly striking back…
Both sides are playing such a dangerous game.
I really wish that they would stop.
A single wrong move could set off a chain of events from which we would never recover.
Last week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov ominously declared that a war between Russia and our allies in Europe would be “very short”…
