A U.S. military service member who called for President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance to be impeached is facing charges under the military justice system, his lawyer and the Air Force said on Tuesday.
The active-duty officer, Maj. Jason Watson, denounced Trump and Vance last month for actions including going to war with Iran without congressional authorization, according to a video of the protest event posted online.
Detained for Opening His Mouth
In the video, the U.S. Capitol Police can be seen detaining Watson, who held a protest sign calling for their impeachment, conviction and removal.

Watson’s lawyer said in a statement that the airman would face charges under three articles, including Article 88, a rarely used provision which accuses him of contempt towards officials.
He Knew the Risks
‘Major Watson acted knowing the risks to his career and his liberty,’ said Christopher Mutimer, counsel for Watson.
‘It is my hope that other Americans who feel powerless in this moment will take some measure of courage from his willingness to speak and to stand by his convictions,’ Mutimer said.

Charged
The Air Force confirmed Watson had been charged and said he would continue to be held in pre-trial confinement and be afforded the right to due process.
Laws governing U.S. military service members place restrictions on their political activities, particularly while in uniform.
Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice prohibits officers from using ‘contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, and other U.S. representatives. Let readers know what you think

My favorite part of the Snowden movie is where he is duck hunting with the Criminals In Action spook who says the people don’t want freedom.

thing is as fun as it is to dunk on the decline of the US, even when it was “classic America” that ppl of varying ages see in their minds as “before things went to heck” the military had these kinds of restrictions. Unfortunately when you join, you voluntarily give up certain constitutional rights, while for the individual it sucks kinda, for the nation its a firewall to try and prevent the military from being overly political and being easy tools for coups or color revolutions.

I think under the circumstances the Major did the right thing but it does bring to mind something Voltaire said about how to find out who rules over you. Find out who you are not allowed to criticize. It isn’t about true legitimacy or consent to govern though.

Maybe Trump will name a swamp after him, seeing that everything is inverted. Inversion is a lazy form of plagiarism.

It’s understandable to fear a future in which governments punish people simply for expressing unpopular opinions. Imprisoning someone solely for peaceful speech is a serious attack on basic liberty.
Evin Prison is in Iran, but the broader concern applies everywhere: the United States and European countries also have people imprisoned in cases involving speech, although governments generally justify those cases through laws concerning threats, incitement to violence, terrorism, defamation, national security, or other conduct beyond merely expressing an opinion. Those laws can sometimes be necessary, but they can also be applied too broadly or abused.
A free society has to protect even offensive, unpopular, or politically inconvenient speech while drawing a narrow line around direct threats, deliberate incitement, and concrete criminal acts. The best safeguards include independent courts, due process, transparent laws, a free press, protection for whistleblowers, and citizens who continue speaking up before censorship becomes normalized.

DEMOCRAT SOCIALISM IS ALSO MADE NEW YORK THIRD WORLD COUNTRY?
A knife-wielding woman was shot and killed by police officers in New York City on Monday after she allegedly went on a stabbing spree in the heart of Times Square, killing one.
The unidentified woman had stabbed a woman and a man just before 4.30pm at the intersection of West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue in Manhattan’s busy downtown, source told the New York Post.
She then fled north toward the New York Police Department substation, where police confronted her.
The woman was seen then pointing a large knife as NYPD officers surrounded her, while frightened tourists screamed and swarmed the area.
When the suspect, dressed in a pink T-shirt, jeans, and a cross-body bag, then charged at cops several officers drew their guns and shot the woman multiple times, causing her to fall to the ground.
The women and her two victims have since been rushed to the hospital in critical condition, sources told the Post.
One of the victims has since succumbed to their injuries, according to The New York Times.
Meanwhile, authorities recovered the woman’s weapon, with photos from the scene showing officers carrying a large kitchen knife.
