Meanwhile, the Bank of England’s huge gold reserves were shipped to Ottawa in Canada. Minister of Information Alfred Duff Cooper sent his son Julius to Canada but failed to inform everyone. Rather strange for a supposed Minister of Information.
The rich abandoned Britain
Parents who could afford to do so shipped their families out to America or the Commonwealth.
Royal Navy ships were placed on standby to evacuate members of the Royal Family and key members of the government to be whisked off to the United States.

The Deposed King Edward VIII
King Edward VIII fought tenaciously to prevent England’s war with the Reich. A loose cannon, he was appointed Governor of the Bahamas so he could not influence European affairs.

Not the only Euro country to have their top class flee, Queen Beatrix(IIRC) of the Netherlands was born in an Ottawa hospital, they temporarily made the room she was in Dutch territory so she would still be in line for the throne. Yes, was sad EdVIII was booted out over (((certain))) interests. I see a lot of him in Charles, he’s also very weak and has a taste for divorced women (same for his youngest son as well). History would have been so different, no Queen Elizabeth, no King Charles, Diana likely would have married Adam Russell and likely still be alive. Thanks for posting the lovely picture of Diana, Princess of Wales, looks like its from the 82 Highland Games (one can usually get the year from her hairstyle which had subtle changes over the years). I got to see and speak to her for a short while on the next year’s Canada tour,as pretty as she is in photos, double so in real life.
