Liverpool born poet and writer Michael Walsh traces his Liverpool roots back to 1865. This was the year his Irish great-grandmother arrived in the Second City of Empire. His parents were born at the turn of what was to become the most tumultuous century in history. Michael's father, Patrick, fought in three major conflicts before reaching his fortieth birthday. His mother, Kathleen, was a former nun turned gun-running renegade.
On leaving school at 15 years of age, Michael spent 12 weeks at the Merchant Navy School for Sailors in Sharpness, Gloucestershire. During his years at sea, he was to visit and work in over 60 countries.
The journalist and broadcaster since provided articles and columns for numerous magazines and international news media. In 2011 he was awarded Writer of the Year by the publishers of Euro Weekly News, Europe's highest-circulation newspaper of its kind. He has authored, edited and ghosted over 70 book titles.

‘Today, people have the right to vote for someone other than Emmanuel Macron,’ states the former Miss France. French model and politician Delphine Wespiser opposed radio host Yassine Belattar on Wednesday and showed her preference for Marine Le Pen in the upcoming presidential election second round. During a debate on the Touche pas à mon poste French television talk show, Wespiser countered claims that a vote for Le Pen is a vote for the far-right.

The collective West, led by the United States, has acted as the main instigator of the Ukrainian conflict, American analyst Daniel Patrick Welch writes in his article for Press TV. According to him, those numerous countries that have suffered from Washington’s policies now ardently support Moscow in its opposition to ‘the undoubted bully and sponsor of terrorism on the planet.’

The movie ZULU (1964) caught the imagination of the world and inspired the courage of fighters who against all odds defeated their enemies. Although one of the lesser-known actions of the Anglo-Zulu War, the Battle of Kambula on 29th March 1879 avenged the British defeat at Isandlwana, established the superiority of the invading force and became the turning point of the war.

Any criticism of Israel or of Jewish behaviour is sure to get the knee-jerk denunciation of ‘Anti-Semite so case closed’.  Not quite closed for as a world traveller I visited, lived and worked in Arab countries for years. I dared to go where angels fear to tread; the notoriously anti-British Crater District and I did so at night.

Support for Russia is growing in Europe

Recently, over 900 vehicles with the Russian tricolour flag wended their way through Berlin as the German people showed remarkable solidarity with the Russian draining of the Ukrainian swamp. Was it a soul sentiment as the media-promoted Russophobia is closely related to Germaphobia? Ironically, the current anti-Russian sanctions and hatred is a mirror image of that of the Western powers before the onset of the equally preventable World War II in September 1939.

The Brotherhood of the Rosary Virgin is the herald of the Resurrection of Christ celebration with a procession, the “Meeting”, which is the oldest in Almoradí and which becomes the perfect closing of our Holy Week.
