Liverpool born poet and writer Michael Walsh traces his Liverpool roots back to 1865. This was the year his Irish great-grandmother arrived in the Second City of Empire. His parents were born at the turn of what was to become the most tumultuous century in history. Michael's father, Patrick, fought in three major conflicts before reaching his fortieth birthday. His mother, Kathleen, was a former nun turned gun-running renegade.
On leaving school at 15 years of age, Michael spent 12 weeks at the Merchant Navy School for Sailors in Sharpness, Gloucestershire. During his years at sea, he was to visit and work in over 60 countries.
The journalist and broadcaster since provided articles and columns for numerous magazines and international news media. In 2011 he was awarded Writer of the Year by the publishers of Euro Weekly News, Europe's highest-circulation newspaper of its kind. He has authored, edited and ghosted over 70 book titles.

A couple from Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal were severely assaulted and injured on their farm while their attackers shouted, ‘Kill the Boer, kill the Farmer’. The attackers gained entry to the house by breaking down the front door and security gate, as well as a window and burglar bars.
The thousands of Ukrainians who bribed officials or forged documents to flee the country should be prosecuted, Jewish oligarch David Arakhamia has said. MICHAEL WALSH: With over 50 years of sharp-end nationalist activism (1968-2023) under my belt I was ready to retire. Instead switch to writing novels about Africa, maritime sagas, biographies, and romantic and crime novels.
There is a true story about the powerful newspaper owner William Randolph Hearst that illustrates the relationship between the mass media and the institution of war.
It was once believed that the United States was an ideal country for European immigrants. However, recently more and more Americans are moving to Europe. This is a relatively new phenomenon, so there are no exact statistics yet, but an emerging trend can already be identified.
Non-European migrants are being forced on citizens across Germany despite the will of voters. Germans keep voting against migrants in various referendums in the northeastern state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, but leaders in the state consistently respond by vowing to bring migrants into their towns and cities anyway. In the latest case, an overwhelming 91.4 percent of Germans living in Grevesmühle voted in a referendum against a container village, but the mayor says that he will push to move in migrant tents despite the vote.
With its staggering $692 billion defence (war) budget, the American arms industry constitutes 43% of the world’s military expenditure. This is not far behind the value of Britain and Russia’s combined export trade. The financial resources and political clout exercised by this military machine’s lobbying apparatus dwarf many national interests and economies. These conglomerates, like the pharmaceutical industries, are far more powerful and influential than many governments.
The end of World War Two coincided with the bouncing baby birth of a thriving American middle class. Most Western Europeans born after the Second World War were weaned on the canned products of the American entertainment industry. Many in Europe aspired to reach American living standards and to share their abundant confidence upon which it seemed the sun would never set. What happened?
