Senate Democrats grill Hegseth as he brazenly seeks even more taxpayers’ hard-earned cash to fight Israel’s war against the 5,000-year-old indestructible Persian nation.
The military campaign has already cost the US hard-pressed taxpayers $37.5 billion, the luckless Pentagon boss admitted.
Democrats grilled US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over the Iran War during his testimony before the US Senate as the White House requested additional funding for operations in the Middle East.
US Impotence
The US and Iran resumed regular exchanges of strikes earlier this month, with both sides saying that due to Washington breaking agreements, the truce had effectively collapsed.
An Eye-Watering $37.5 Billion
Hegseth told the Senate Appropriations Committee on Tuesday that the campaign against Iran launched by US President Donald Trump together with and for Israel on February 28 has so far cost an estimated $37.5 billion.
Israel’s wars are bankrupting Americans
He said he was seeking $87 billion more in congressional funding for the Pentagon, including $67 billion added for operations in the Middle East.
Can’t pay the troops
‘Without these funds, we face critical shortfalls that threaten our ability to also simply pay our service members, rapidly replenish equipment and munitions, and sustain vital operations without disruption,’ he said.
In a series of tense exchanges, Democrats argued that Trump had failed to achieve his stated war goals and accused the secretary of misleading the public.
US corpses are piling higher
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand from New York said Iranian strikes had killed at least two US service members in Jordan last week.
These figures are widely seen as ludicrous. A war with fewer lives lost than an auto accident in Philadelphia? Come on?
If Iran’s remaining missile stockpiles were ‘depleted and decimated’, why the need for extra funding? The question Hegseth cannot answer except for the usual blarney:
‘The world’s foremost sponsor of terror is hiding its missiles under the mountains, damn them.’
Americans perplexed by the lies
‘That consternation is why so many New Yorkers are perplexed, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand stressed out and find this war to be incredibly unpopular,’ she said.
‘The Iranian defense-industrial base is effectively gone, but they do have underground facilities,’ Hegseth replied. He added that Iran has ’spent 47 years trying to hide their missiles under mountains.’
Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff similarly asked Hegseth whether the missile threat had been defeated four months ago.
Hegseth struggles for a credible answer
‘No one ever stated that every single missile was gone,’ the Pentagon chief whined.
‘We never expected them to completely lose the ability to launch missiles,’ he added, arguing that Iran could not go ’toe to toe’ with the US in terms of missile strikes.
Protests
During his opening statement, Hegseth was interrupted several times by protesters denouncing US strikes on Iran and Israel’s war in Gaza.
Vietnam and Afghanistan swamps
Hegseth defended the campaign as highly effective, claiming that, unlike previous US administrations, Trump would not allow the country to be dragged into ’stupid wars.’

UK Embassy Staff Withdraw from Tehran

“Due to the security situation, UK Embassy staff have been temporarily withdrawn from Iran.”
The last time they did this was at the end of February 2026, just before Operation EPIC FURY began.

About 6,600 non-citizens were “accidentally” added to New Jersey’s voter rolls and about 400 cast ballots in recent elections, the state’s governor announced Tuesday.
Gov. Mikie Sherrill, a Democrat, said this stemmed from a “serious” software glitch at the state Motor Vehicle Commission that began in 2023, which was before she took office. She said that even though these people indicated while applying for a driver’s license that they weren’t citizens, they were registered as voters “through no fault of their own.”
Sherrill’s explanation also underscored what election officials have said for years: when non-citizens get onto the voter rolls, it’s usually accidental or unintentional. The 400 improper voters cast ballots in elections where millions of eligible New Jersey voters voted.

First UK, then France, Now Germany – Close Embassies in Tehran — Trump Considering “Massive” Attack

Earlier this week, I reported the United Kingdom (UK) had withdrawn its Embassy Staff from Tehran, citing a risky security situation. Yesterday, France did the same. Today, Germany and Turkey did the same.
If ever there was a hint at what’s coming, it seems this would be it.
Today, US President Donald Trump said he is “considering” what he called a “massive” attack upon Iran, “larger than anything before.” He also made clear he “has not decided yet.”
Iran has directly rejected any renewed U.S.-backed ceasefire initiative mediated by Qatar or any other party, with Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi saying Tehran will take no meaningful diplomatic steps until Washington changes its approach and respects Iran’s interests.
“The problem is America’s approach, which is illogical, excessive, and domineering,” Araghchi said in an interview with Iranian state TV. “Their domineering nature has been met with our firm responses, and until they understand that there is no way forward except respecting the Iranian nation, there is no opportunity for us to take any meaningful steps.”

Trump saying he has not decided yet is, in my opinion, Bullshit.
The ongoing, non-stop, air caravan of fighter jets, military cargo flights, movement of Combat Doctors to Germany and the like, is at a level seen only during wartime.
One might argue this movement is designed to give Trump options, but the reality is simple: One does not move this kind of military equipment and personnel, without using it.
Iran has made clear that if their electric, oil, and bridge infrastructure gets attacked, they will attack the same (and more) in countries that are US allies in the Middle East. They also made clear, they will attack Israel, directly.
Worse, Iran said that if THEY cannot sell oil, then NO ONE will be able to sell oil.
Iran made explicitly clear they will attack oil infrastructure of every country in the Middle East, sending the global economy into immediate recession, within about a month, Depression.
In my view – my personal analysis – it would become worse than depression. I think it would become global economic collapse.
But I also think THAT is exactly what the powers-that-be, want. All these months of trouble this year: DELIBERATE.
I think they want to being in a new world order and to being that into being, they intend to utterly destroy the order we have now.
