French Cops’ Defensive Cordon Around Macron Store

While rioters were wreaking havoc across France, police were deployed to guard a confectionery shop belonging to the Macron family.

A scandal is brewing in France regarding the deployment of police forces during the recent mass unrest.

According to the police union Alliance, while thousands of stores were being ransacked in Paris and other cities, a significant number of officers were assigned to protect a confectionery business owned by the family of First Lady Brigitte Macron.

Preferential Protection

The union has demanded an explanation: who issued this order, and why were police not sent to protect other businesses that were being targeted by rioters?

The establishment in question is the renowned Jean Trogneux confectionery in Amiens, founded back in 1872.

Today, the family business is run by Brigitte Macron’s nephew, Jean-Alexandre Trogneux, and his son. Neither the President nor his wife holds any stake in the company.

However, the confectionery has frequently been a target for protesters. During the ‘Yellow Vests’ demonstrations, the family’s shops were attacked.

On one occasion, the owner even received a package containing excrement, accompanied by a mocking note that read:

‘A new ‘chocolate’ Macron.’ The police union is now demanding to know why this particular business was singled out for such special protection.
