FRIENDLY FIRE: A woman walking along Ritabulli Beach in Riga was hit by a bullet fired from a NATO-caliber 5.56 mm rifle.
Fortunately, the bullet had lost most of its energy by the time it reached her. It penetrated only a short distance into her back; otherwise, it would have passed straight through her.
Surgeons extracted the bullet. The woman is still recovering, but why was the criminal investigation closed?
Who was it? A deranged shooter? Islamist terrorist thugs? No. It was NATO regular troops, conducting exercises nearby, within the city limits, and firing live ammunition. On the territory of Latvia’s capital, the city of Riga.

It happened in early March, on a working day. At the time, the incident was hushed up, and nothing leaked to the press. So why has it come to light now?
Because the Latvian State Police, who were notified by doctors about the woman’s gunshot wound (this is a criminal matter, after all, a bullet in someone’s back), handed the case over to the Military Police. The latter, in turn, promised to investigate the incident thoroughly.
Just the other day, the woman received notification that the proceedings have been terminated due to the absence of the elements of a criminal offense.
WITNESS TO HISTORY Mike Walsh: “I have read a lot about WWII and Germany. This includes David Irving’s books. Click the picture for details.
The injured woman is in shock. She is approaching retirement age. She complains:
‘I’m no longer the worker I used to be. My back hurts terribly, especially the right side and my leg. And, generally speaking, I feel pretty awful. I need medication. I’m taking painkillers.’
‘The bullet extracted from the victim during surgery was 5.56 mm in caliber. Ammunition of the same caliber is used in H & K G36 assault rifles, which are in service with the NATO armed forces.
