Whilst making his way across the frozen tundra, a Siberian fair trader chanced upon a small bird that was clearly in deep distress.

Obviously close to death, the tiny creature’s wings and legs were frozen to the snow, and the tiny creature was unable to move.

Tenderly, the trapper lifted the bird up. Then, spotting a steaming heap of elk shit, he carefully placed the frozen bird in its warm center.

The small bird, of course, was overjoyed and was singing its tiny heart out when the trapper went on his way.

Attracted to the bird’s singing, it was then that a timber wolf approached. The fortunate carnivore scooped up the unexpected delicacy and swallowed the tiny bird in one gulp.

From this story, the Russians draw three lessons.

The person who drops you in the shit is not necessarily your enemy. Secondly, the person who gets you out of the shit is not necessarily your friend.

Finally, if you do find yourself in the shit, don’t make a song and dance about it.
