The lunatics are running the asylum

‘We are going through a great derangement. People are behaving in ways that are increasingly irrational, feverish, herd-like and simply unpleasant.’ ~ British Author and Commentator Douglas Murray, The Strange Death of Europe.

If you think you are living in a lunatic asylum, you could be right if you are living in the collapsing West. The world around us has been changing in ways that are difficult to explain logically.

Absurdity follows absurdity in politics, the media, education, and culture.

Events that not long ago would have been called conspiracy theories now unfold before our eyes. And yet many deluded people still remain convinced that everything is fine. That somehow it will all work out. That it is ‘not their concern.’

Meanwhile, everything points to the fact that we are living in times that require more from us than passive observation.

Senseless wars, media spectacles, and political power struggles increasingly resemble theater for the masses rather than actions taken for the good of society.

Society itself is becoming blurred, and the education system is no longer teaching but shaping and conditioning.

Instead of developing thought, it forces the memorization of empty formulas that no one truly understands. Children are taught not to understand the world, but to fit into patterns that often have little to do with real life.

In the background of all this is the constant noise, the endless stream of information, the shiny distractions of Instagram, the instant emotions of Facebook, TikTok, and the performance of life for display.

The world is turning into a showcase where what matters is how something looks, not what it truly is.

And in the midst of it all comes the constant fear messaging about war, pandemics, external threats, and climate change.

This is not about denying everything. It is about stopping the habit of blindly accepting everything. Pausing. Thinking. Connecting the dots.

The media serves us a readymade vision of reality, edited, packaged, and loaded with emotions designed to steer us.

‘If it bleeds it leads’ is a media expression: Fear, guilt, and helplessness are among the most effective tools of control.

Many people have neither the time nor the energy to examine it more closely. They keep moving. Living. Working. They stop asking questions. They stop looking deeper.

But just because you are not interested in what is happening in the world does not mean the world is not interested in you.

Your silence and comfort become a green light for those who wish to make decisions for you. It becomes permission for others to write history, including yours.

Awakening from this illusion is a process. Difficult, sometimes painful, but necessary. It is not about rebellion for the sake of rebellion.

It is about awareness. About honestly looking at reality, even when it is uncomfortable. About having the courage to ask ‘why?’ and ‘for whom?’ before agreeing, clicking, believing, signing, or moving forward without reflection.

We must also understand that individual awakening is only the beginning. Awareness becomes real power only when it begins to connect people. When cooperation replaces competition. When responsibility replaces indifference.

Each of us holds far more than we realise: our attention, our time, our energy, and our resources.

Every day, we vote with all of it, for something or against something. And if we do not do it consciously, someone else will do it for us.

True freedom is not the ability to do whatever you want. True freedom is conscious choice, even when it is harder, less convenient, and more demanding.

Only then do we reclaim our power and stop being passive spectators in a performance prepared for us by others.

It requires courage and responsibility, but it also gives something priceless: meaning. The sense that our lives are not random drifting, but a conscious journey.

Open your eyes. The world will not stop to give you time to awaken.  But you can still stop long enough to truly see it. While you still can.
