The man described as Abdul K., who drove a van into a crowd of shirt-lifters and onlookers in the German capital, is still on the run.
A van ploughed into a crowd during a homosexual pageant in Berlin on Saturday night, killing one person and injuring 16 others, some critically, the fire department said.
The incident took place on Christopher Street Day, the German capital’s annual pride event, on Lennestrasse near the Tiergarten park in central Berlin.
Islamist still at large
Police spokesman Florian Nath said the suspect has been identified and remains at large. According to the information available so far, he is a man known to the police and believed to be associated with the Islamist extremist milieu.’
Looking for Abdul
Police later released a photograph of the suspect, identifying him as 21-year-old Abdul K., who was wearing a black hoodie and white pants.
Police said the driver fled the scene after the vehicle hit a tree and that helicopters were deployed in the search.
According to the Berliner Morgenpost, witnesses said the suspect was driving a white minivan, possibly a Citroen. Police later confirmed that the vehicle was a passenger van.
Organisers cancelled the parade, which was set to resume on Sunday.
Many stabbed
Police spokesman Florian Nath said investigators were examining whether the suspect attacked bystanders after leaving the vehicle, following witness reports that people were lying on the ground with stab wounds.
Tears for Queers
Chancellor Friedrich Merz has been briefed on the incident and is in close contact with Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, a government spokesperson said. ’His thoughts are with the victims,’ the spokesperson added.
‘This is an attack on our free and open society,’ Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner wrote on X. ‘After a peaceful and colorful pride parade, a gathering celebrating a tolerant and open Berlin was attacked most brutally.’
Germany has seen several vehicle attacks in recent years. The deadliest incident took place in 2016, when an Islamist and failed asylum seeker drove a truck through a Christmas market in Berlin, killing 12 people and injuring more than 50. Let readers know what you think

A wealthy influencer died after having penis enlargement surgery at a Thai clinic during a vacation with his wife.
Igho Ubiribo, 43, passed away after being injected with 40 milliliters of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at a clinic in Thailand, in March, an inquest in London was told last month.
The British-Nigerian businessman was enjoying a break with his wife Danielle Simba Allen when he decided to have the procedure.
Afterwards, Mr Ubiribo, who spent much of his time at a $1.1million home in Los Angeles‘s Crenshaw neighborhood, went for a massage with Danielle but started to complain of chest pain and twice passed out.
Mr Ubiribo, a popular social media figure who had 185,000 Instagram followers, was taken to hospital in an ambulance where he was able to answer questions.
Once he got to the Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok, Mr Ubiribo was admitted to the emergency room where he was seen by doctors who recommended a CT scan.

An American Airlines passenger, who had to be duct-taped to his plane seat after going on an alleged alcohol-fueled rant, has been identified as an Arizona realtor.
Layne Arthur Lundeen, 67, had to be duct-taped by fellow passengers on a flight from Dallas, Texas, to Newark, New Jersey, on Thursday night.
His alleged homophobic and racist rant caused American Airlines Flight 618 to divert to a Baltimore airport, where the Tucson realtor was removed from the aircraft. The rest of the passengers then resumed their flight to Newark.
Now, it’s been revealed Lundeen is a realtor for Long Realty in Tucson, where he is reportedly the vice president.
The real estate company confirmed to the Daily Mail that Lundeen is no longer employed with them.
‘Long Realty is aware of reports concerning criminal charges filed against a former affiliated real estate agent arising from an incident that allegedly occurred during a commercial flight,’ CEO Kevin Kaplan said.
‘Upon learning of the incident, Long Realty promptly ended its affiliation with the individual. The individual is no longer associated with or authorized to represent Long Realty in any capacity.
