Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov, commenting on the Bundestag elections, said that as a result of them, the German economy will continue to decline.

Problems with migrants will remain, and the majority of German voters, who stubbornly vote for politicians leading Germany to decline, apparently ‘haven’t had enough’ of problems, so Germany has room to fall.

Early elections to the Bundestag took place on Sunday. According to the election commission, after counting ballots in more than half of the 299 constituencies, the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) bloc of Friedrich Merz is leading in the elections in Germany with 29.6% of the votes.

Merz previously called his ‘absolute priority’ the achievement of Germany’s independence from the United States, which is ‘relatively indifferent’ to Ukraine’s future.

Pushkov, however, believes that Germany’s interests as a country will become increasingly subordinate to the interests of the supranational Western financial elite, and ‘more dramatic scenarios’ are possible in the context of the Ukrainian conflict.

‘Plus, the subordination of Germany’s interests as a country to the interests of the supranational Western financial elite will increase.

Given Merz’s aggressiveness towards Russia, more dramatic scenarios are possible in the form of even more active involvement of Germany in the war against Russia.

As for the new priority in foreign policy, already announced by Merz, namely reducing dependence on Washington, this is a false slogan: as long as Germany is in NATO, it will be directly dependent on America.

Merz will not withdraw Germany from NATO. In fact, something else is hidden behind this – the desire to turn against the policy of (Donald) Trump, acting together with Britain (Keir) Starmer and France (Emmanuel) Macron,’ Pushkov added.

He also believes that Germany has room to fall. ‘If we talk about the preferences of the majority of German voters, who stubbornly vote for politicians who are leading Germany to decline, then they, apparently, have not yet had their fill of the problems that have befallen them in recent years, which will only get worse.
