Herbalism vs. Big Pharma You Decide

Many see the irony in conventional medicine promoting chemotherapy and many other distressing ‘solutions’ whilst dismissing homoeopathy (herbal / Natural) remedies as quackery. Cynics will follow the dollar-dots and reason that $35,000 a year for pharma-tablets that might work, alleviate or delay an illness is more profitable than a homoeopathic (natural/herbal) approach for say $40 a course.

Discovery and promotion of any non-Big Pharma alternative would annihilate huge international corporations as profitable as those of the Military-Industrial Complex. We know what happens to those who discover alternatives to banking, medicine, creating a healthy lifestyle that reduces the need for hospitals and snake oil pharma products, oil and other raw products as did Germany in the 1930s.

The chance email I received yesterday was unrelated to my doctor’s recommendation that I first try a (herbalist) homoeopathic remedy to stabilise my life-threatening condition. My friend writes: ‘I had a breast biopsy done Nov 2, 2020, and was informed that I have breast cancer. I would never go for the cruel conventional treatment being dictated by the Pharma Giants ($$$). I have watched my second husband die an agonizing death as well as over the years had lost close friends that died after chemotherapy. It appeared that they died from the treatment and not from the disease.

‘I decided to go the homoeopathic way. After a month of taking natural remedies I was informed on Dec 30 that my breast nodule had calcified and my doctor could not find any trace of cancer throughout the rest of my body.’

It was then I recalled Mr Trevor Ellis, a herbalist whom I first met in 1986. My two sons, then 10 and 20-months of age, were stricken by whooping cough which is a notorious kiddie-killer. The NHS when we asked for help was as useless as a one-armed wheelbarrow. The family doctor refused to visit the infants. The babes’ mother and I resorted to going to the library to read up as much as we could about the condition.

My wife and I were full-blown sceptics about herbalism but on recommendation we went to see Mr Ellis because we were clutching at straws. His response suggested it was a pity that we didn’t come to see him sooner. Our herbalist mixed herbal remedies and after giving the two infants a spoonful each we were given the doses and went on our way. I can only describe the result as the laying on of the hands. For the first time in six weeks, the two babes slept like angels; the condition was history. There were no side effects or lasting damage. As they were both so young ‘the power of suggestion’ doesn’t hold water.

Conventional doctors were sceptical and put it down to coincidence: ‘the ailment had burned itself out anyway’, they said. How fortuitous.

I visited Mr Ellis on another occasion when I was distressed by constant mouth ulcers as was an RAF cadet. Over years, the NHS and several dentists had shrugged us both off as ‘incurables.’   The remedy prescribed by Mr Ellis was again like the laying on of the hands. I took my medicine and his dietary advice and was rarely bothered by mouth ulcers again. The cadet and others were also completely cured.

By this time, I had learnt that Mr Ellis was by trade an engineer. Curious, I asked him for what reason had so radically changed his career. This is Mr Ellis’s story: ‘My wife was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). We were told that within two years she would be wheelchair-bound and would likely have passed on to the other side within a further year. We were given the name of a herbalist (homoeopathic) who took responsibility for her condition. That was fifteen years ago. Right now, my wife is scurrying around Wrexham market with a shopping bag in each hand.’

Homeopathic pharmacy in Riga

It was whilst I was on holiday in Riga in 2011 that I was seriously burdened by painful sinew problems behind each knee. Climbing steps was difficult. Conventional doctors shook their heads. On my friend’s advice, I visited a conventional doctor in iga who prescribed a herbal remedy. Again, the tablets worked like a charm and I sent the rest of my holiday cycling around the Latvian countryside.

Homeopathic pharmacy in Riga

Latvia is a country where conventional healthcare specialists are quite comfortable with homoeopathy. They often recommend a natural solution to a health problem. One of this great city’s busiest pharmacies is a homoeopathic (natural/herbalist) chemist (above) recommended by my state trained doctors. Thereby, I rest my case in the hope that when I do eventually rest my body it will be later rather than sooner. I welcome your views and experiences. ~ Michael Walsh

  1. Excellent Michael. My daughter is a Naturopathic physician and Clinical Kinesiologist with a small clinic which treats cancer patients, most of which have already went through radiation and chemotherapy and end up coming to them as a last ditch effort to live. She says they walk through their doors looking like death, yet after coming in they sense that something different is going on here and their spirit seems to be revived. She loves her job and is a sweetheart with her patients. I’ve used many of their treatments for various things through the years and have always been healed. If a person just changes the typical western diet healing can and does take place.
    Thanks Mike.

  2. Great post Mike, I’ve only used Homeopathy, natural cures for years and they’ve always sorted me out from parasite infection to getting rid of gallstones. If only a fraction of the money that goes to Big Pharma went on training more Naturopaths/Homeopaths we’d all be a lot healthier.
    Good luck with it all.
