Contrary to the propaganda of the victors of World War II the National Socialist German Workers Party in January 1933 was democratically elected to govern Germany. Within the month, the Party’s leader Adolf Hitler publicly vowed to the German people that within four years he would give the German electorate the opportunity to decide if they wished the NSDAP to continue to govern Germany or wished instead to return to the electoral system of the Weimar Republic.

With tensions growing on the border between Russia and Ukraine, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic has announced that Zagreb will pull its troops out of NATO contingents stationed in the region should the situation spiral into a full-scale conflict. Bulgaria also says, ‘don’t include us. We’ll not be sending troops to Ukraine.’

Moscow has expressed concerns about the concentration of Western alliance missile systems, troops, warships, and aircraft near Russia’s borders, and NATO’s decades’ long eastward expansion. This month, the Russian Foreign Ministry formally signalled that it considers Ukraine to be a red line for Moscow that NATO is strongly advised not to cross.
