Around 500 people joined the protest to support the rape victim outside the migrant center late on Friday. Footage posted online showed race patriots pushing against police lines near the facility, where some 2,000 migrants are housed, calling for its closure and for changes to migration laws.
Currently, his life remains in jeopardy. The prosecutor’s office has stated that his condition has since stabilized and that he is believed to be an illegal immigrant allowed by the authorities to run amok.
Employees of the Columbiabad outdoor swimming complex in Berlin penned a letter to the Der Tagesspiegel newspaper complaining about perpetrators they describe as mainly Arab migrants and Chechens who are engaging in the sexual harassment of women and mass brawls on the premises, while also leaving the complexes in disgusting conditions.
Police have locked down the local hospitals where the victims are being treated out of fear of further violence after more family members arrived. Riot police dispersed these family members from the scene, and police protection units are guarding patients.
In Clonavon Terrace, several houses used by migrants had their windows smashed, and two which suffered significant smoke damage remained sealed off on Tuesday.
Seven male youths, all alleged gang members and known to police, have since been charged. Six were allegedly out on bail at the time, including a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old who police allege are part of a predominantly African gang known as the 8rs.
