A person visiting Poland for the first time may spot an unfamiliar inscription in white chalk on doors they pass – ‘K+M+B’ or ‘C+M+B’. The tradition of writing these letters has its origin in the 18th century. During the communist regime, many Poles continued this tradition as a demonstration of their own beliefs.

A generation that did their homework to go out and play in the street as soon as possible.
It is difficult not to notice the corrosive effect of television programming on people across frontiers. Posterity may likely record that the onset of the television age plunged mankind into an abyss of mediocrity. Far from improving peoples lives, television and on-stream entertainment didn’t fill a gap in peoples lives; they replaced the rich course of blood that nourished human inspiration.
Many are broken-hearted by the inhumanity of politicians, the Press, avaricious corporates who like vultures tear at the last ligaments of their bankrupted victims. In a world ruled by a lack of compassion and empathy, is often overlooked the almost fairy tale goodness not of corporate godfathers but of ordinary people doing what is today the most extraordinary things.
It is a gift we take for granted. It is a gift so commonplace that it tends to be overlooked when there is a need to say something meaningful to someone important in your life. It is one gift with one million choices.
I was in my twenties when the highly respected broadsheet (before tabloids) Daily Telegraph published a centrefold comparing ordinary not university education then (1960s) and 1900.
For example, I remember the times when butter was healthy. The natural farm produced butter was put in hot porridge, spread on bread, grease pancakes. Oil was very healthy, especially for children.
I stand in the archway of the building where Dr Eduard Bloch had his home and surgery: the Palais Weissenwolff at No. 12 Landstrasse. Embedded in the wall is a beautiful, wrought-iron disc bearing the words Haus Glocke (House Bell) running in raised letters around the outside.
