With tensions growing on the border between Russia and Ukraine, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic has announced that Zagreb will pull its troops out of NATO contingents stationed in the region should the situation spiral into a full-scale conflict. Bulgaria also says, ‘don’t include us. We’ll not be sending troops to Ukraine.’

BLACK JACK SCHRAMME OF THE CONGO CRISIS

Born in 1929, Belgian national Jean Schramme had little need to travel to the Congo Republic. As manager of a vast estate in the Belgian Congo, Schramme was already a Congo national during the Congo Crisis (1960 – 1965). The setting to his contribution was the scene of the unrest following the breakaway of mineral-rich Katanga and Kasai Provinces.

Fierce clashes between anti-repression protesters and police in Brussels saw damage dealt to the European External Action Service building. Chaotic scenes unfolded on the streets of the Belgian capital, Brussels, on Sunday, as tens of thousands of protesters joined a mass march against Covid-19 health passes and other restrictions introduced by European governments in the name of combating the pandemic.
