The Brotherhood of the Rosary Virgin is the herald of the Resurrection of Christ celebration with a procession, the “Meeting”, which is the oldest in Almoradí and which becomes the perfect closing of our Holy Week. The origin is certainly in the birth of the Brotherhood in the seventeenth century. The Virgin, covered with a thin tulle veil, in mourning for the death of her Son, is carried in a run by her brothers and, after three reverences, she stops next to the Custody of the Blessed Sacrament, carried under a pallium in the center of the square.

Are the sanction impoverished Germans waking up to reality? The last constitutional with international recognition was Hitler’s National Socialist administration. However, in May 1945, the Allies arrested, hanged or imprisoned the nation’s elected parliamentarians. In place of the valid constitution, a ‘constitution’ drawn up by Washington was put in place. As former President Obama pointed out, ‘Germany is an occupied country.’

Occasionally, a birthday crops up to give one pause for thought. The date is May 7, which is 70 years since the passing of a stellar star, Eva Peron (1919 – 1952), a diminutive figure of a woman who has frustrated left and right since she inspired belief in the power of women worldwide.

MICHAEL WALSH OP-ED: Far from being an atheist I bend my knee to the spirit of Our Lord and I am otherwise of spiritual nature. Perhaps it is, for this reason, I am bemused to see the holy Cross atop churches and everywhere inside. For what and why are these places called churches?

The December 25th birthday of the sun god is a common story worldwide, dating back at least 12,000 years, as reflected in winter solstice scenes recorded in caves. Around the world beginning thousands of years ago, people have celebrated the birth of the god Sol (Sun) to the Queen of Heaven, the Celestial Virgin. The winter solstice has been celebrated in many places, from China to the Americas.
