Anas Sarwar, the Glasgow ‘socialist’ has been voted the new leader of the Scottish Labour party, winning 57.6 per cent of the votes cast, compared to Monica Lennon, the party’s health spokeswoman’s 42.4 per cent, in the process becoming the first person from an ethnic minority background to lead a UK party. Anas Sarwar was born in 1983 and his parents are Pakistani Muslims.
The Kremlin during the Second World War acknowledged Charles de Gaulle as the leader of the government in exile of Free France because he had helped torpedo Winston Churchill’s plan for the Western allies to liberate Central Europe, according to French historian and former head of Le Figaro Magazine Henri-Christian Giraud in his book ‘De Gaulle and the Communists’.
