Liverpool born poet and writer Michael Walsh traces his Liverpool roots back to 1865. This was the year his Irish great-grandmother arrived in the Second City of Empire. His parents were born at the turn of what was to become the most tumultuous century in history. Michael's father, Patrick, fought in three major conflicts before reaching his fortieth birthday. His mother, Kathleen, was a former nun turned gun-running renegade.
On leaving school at 15 years of age, Michael spent 12 weeks at the Merchant Navy School for Sailors in Sharpness, Gloucestershire. During his years at sea, he was to visit and work in over 60 countries.
The journalist and broadcaster since provided articles and columns for numerous magazines and international news media. In 2011 he was awarded Writer of the Year by the publishers of Euro Weekly News, Europe's highest-circulation newspaper of its kind. He has authored, edited and ghosted over 70 book titles.
When on May 11, 2011, an unusually shallow earthquake struck Lorca situated close to Murcia and Almeria nine people died and over 300 were injured. Most of those who died or were harmed had not stayed in their homes in which case they were less likely to suffer. No, in a panic they had rushed from their homes and were hit by falling masonry.
The world is a wonderful place. What you sow, you reap. Please help others as best as you can. In the long run, you may be helping yourself. The universe never forgets anyone who sows a good seed in others, never.
Directly or indirectly half of every £100 or €100 we earn goes to the government. The administration does not create wealth – the politicians are wealth managers and they are very bad at it – because they are unaccountable
Pearson is one of those cybernetic and artificial intelligence experts involved in a race to cure the last remaining illness we call death. They believe the body is merely a means of transport for the convenience of the brain. Everything you are is in the brain; the rest will soon be renewable.
Despite being one of the world’s smallest nations the Irish presence in the world of rich and influential people punches well above its weight.
After reaching the dwelling’s top floor our group discovered a neatly formed queue where the hooker’s clients each waited their turn to ‘dip their hooks.’ Apart from us aliens standing patiently, a queue of Arabs were waiting their turn to make lurve.
England’s monarchy stretches back over a millennium yet the two truly great monarchs that immediately spring to mind are Queen Elizabeth 1 (1533 – 1603) and Queen Victoria (1819 – 1901).
I will never forget the expression on my teenage sons’ faces when I suggested they share a hotel bed when we were motoring through Europe. Both looked at me like I was something they had scraped off the bottom of their shoe.
The shoot-out, which lasted only about 30 seconds, involved Wyatt, Virgil, Morgan Earp, and Doc Holliday against the Clanton gang. Three outlaws were killed, but the violence persisted. Virgil was ambushed and wounded in December 1881, and Morgan was killed in March 1882.
Then the computer came to my house and social media took the place of books penned by truly great writers. Somehow, I convinced myself that the selfies posted by ‘friends’ I had never met or even knew as were the images of the meals they had eaten or the children they had given birth to. I stopped to value time.
