The average sufferer’s life expectancy is three years. During this time, the disease will progress to a stage. The sufferer will be reduced to dependence on oxygen canisters and will inevitably die by suffocation.

In effect, one’s leathery-lined, clogged-up lungs cannot absorb oxygen. They can no longer function to distribute oxygen to the bloodstream.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast

As hope springs eternal in the human breast, your first impulse is denial and then defiance. When diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, I followed my instinct to prove the experts wrong.

Scouring the internet for information, I finally conceded defeat and accepted reality. Even my son, a senior consultant anaesthetist, conceded that the condition was confirmed and the prognosis was correct.  

Fate steps in

By chance, if there is any such thing as chance, I then met online Ms Carol Everett. Upon learning that Ms Everett is a distant healer, I mentioned my health situation.

In the meantime, a hospital attended course of monitoring the disease was started. The path involved quarterly 3-part tests, each of which included strenuous breathing tests for lung capacity and involved physically walking.

My unseen doctor: Meantime, unknown to my conventional healthcare specialists, Ms. Everett, my distant healer, was on my case.

Immediately, the condition stabilised, the hospital tests became less frequent and amazingly, my lungs began to work more efficiently.

This puzzled me as this is not supposed to happen, especially the latter. There can occasionally be stabilisation but no cure, period.

Of course, I questioned the improvement. My pulmonologist made no comment but the tests then continued at 6-month rather than 3-month intervals.

The last time I met my pulmonologist, he asked me a question. He wanted to know if I felt the need to continue the €30,000 big pharma course of medicine. He was curious about my perspective. As my insurer was paying, my doctor son and I decided yes, why not.

Fit as a fiddle

As my final conversation with my hospital’s pulmonologist was ending, I asked a question. I wanted to know why no one was monitoring my condition anymore.

‘There is no need to do so,’ he smiled. ‘Your condition is no longer evident. I will make an appointment to see you sometime in 2027.’

Today marks six years since my original pulmonologist told me I had only three years to live. I am far fitter now. I am also much more mobile than most people of my advanced years.

I am no longer in denial. However, sceptics, including those in the world of conventional medicine, are dismissive. Then again, the world of conventional medicine is paid well to have closed minds.
