Ekaterina Demyanovskaya, a physician and expert at the Hemotest Laboratory explained.

From a medical perspective, the main danger is not the ticks themselves. It is what they leave behind. Fecal pellets and chitinous shells remain after moulting.

‘These waste products contain proteins that can cause a severe allergic reaction in humans,’ the expert explained.

These substances often cause a year-round runny nose. They also trigger asthma attacks and exacerbate atopic dermatitis.

‘The mechanism of action of these proteins is quite aggressive: being quite powerful allergens in themselves.

They can cause swelling and disrupt the protective barrier of the mucous membranes and skin. This makes the body more vulnerable to other allergens,’ the specialist says.

A person with a sensitivity to dust mites faces increased risk in such an environment. Allergic reactions become more likely. The doctor warned about this.

‘Inflammation can become chronic and lead to long-term, significant changes in the airways,’ she warned.

According to her, it will not be possible to get rid of these unwanted neighbors once and for all.

‘Even after thorough cleaning, new individuals inevitably enter the room on clothing, shoes, through ventilation, and open windows.

Complete sterility in a living space is unattainable, and it’s unnecessary. The goal is to reduce the number of allergens to a level that’s safe for health,’ the doctor stated.

The expert advised on the most effective method. It is to reduce the number and area of places where dust mites actively reproduce.

‘Long-pile carpets, upholstered furniture, mattresses, and pillows are their primary habitats.

Simple measures yield noticeable results. Replace household textiles with surfaces that can be wiped with a damp cloth. Use special allergen-proof bedding covers.

Furthermore, it’s helpful to maintain air humidity at no more than 45-50%. These conditions are considered unfavorable for mite reproduction,’ the specialist concluded.
