GOOD HEALTH: Irina Pershina, a top dentist, explains which foods are good for teeth. She also highlights which ones are toxic and highly destructive.
She says, ‘There are no specific vitamins or foods guaranteed to make teeth healthy. The condition of your mouth reflects your overall health.’
‘You can’t say, for example, ‘Take vitamin C, and everything will be fine in your mouth.’ Or take calcium and everything will be perfect.’ Everything in the body needs to be balanced,’ the doctor explained.
According to her, much depends on the composition and properties of saliva. The condition of the teeth also plays a role. Additionally, the presence of bite pathologies is important.
The dentist paid special attention to categories of products that, in most cases, can harm the condition of teeth.

‘There are sweet, sticky foods (candy, cookies). These are simple carbohydrates that are also very adhesive. They can settle and cling to your teeth, and are difficult to remove.’ the expert noted.
Acidic drinks (such as freshly squeezed juices) are also harmful, as they can corrode enamel.
Furthermore, soft and natural drinks are notorious for their citric acid content, a leading cause of mouth ulcers.
‘Naturally, carbonated drinks contain phosphoric acid. It can etch enamel, meaning it can strip away important components, making it more vulnerable to decay,’ the specialist explained.
Alcohol that contains persistent dyes can stain teeth. This staining can negatively affect the condition of teeth.
‘Another thing our teeth don’t like is rapid temperature changes. Drinking hot coffee and washing it down with cold water can be harmful. Eating cold ice cream also poses a risk.

This can lead to cracks in the enamel over time, which isn’t good for your teeth,’ she emphasized.
Hard fruits and vegetables are good for teeth: carrots, hard apples, pears, celery, radishes, the expert gave as an example.
‘Besides ingesting vitamins and microelements from food, which are clearly better absorbed than dietary supplements, we also chew.
Chewing ensures the proper functioning of the entire dental system. It benefits the muscles, the teeth, and the tissues surrounding them. Plus, this solid chewed food helps cleanse the oral cavity,’ Pershina explained.
She also emphasized that the safest and most universally beneficial drink for teeth is clean drinking water.
