The Wild Card of War is the Mainstream Media

MICHAEL WALSH AMERICAN FREE PRESS COLUMNIST

A fatal flaw in public perception is the view that the Press is slightly skewed. However, it is largely seen as a neutral observer. The Press is also considered a purveyor of international news.

A journalist attending a St. Petersburg seminar for senior journalists provides a more truthful overview of mainstream media.

She explained that journalists are now ‘soldiers of communication,’ with an emphasis on the term ‘soldiers.’

At this critical time of shifting hegemonies, we must remember the immense power of the Press. The behemoth can both make and stop wars.

It goes back a long way. The great English essayist, Samuel Johnson (1709-1784) came straight to the point:

“I am not certain what we should fear more. Is it a street full of soldiers who are out to plunder? Or is it a room full of writers who are used to lie?”

For these reasons, it was hardly news. US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard recently slammed Reuters for ’fomenting hysteria’ to sell war.

Jewish-owned and controlled Reuters is one of the largest and most formidable news agencies in the world.

A multi-headed serpent, the news agency employs around 2,500 journalists. It also hires 600 photojournalists across about 200 locations worldwide.

The agency produces news in 16 languages and reaches over one billion people every day. This is achieved through broadcasters, publishers, and its own platforms.

It delivers more than 2 million news stories, 730,000+ images, and 110,000+ video stories each year.

In terms of political influence, how powerful is the Press? U.S. President Richard M. Nixon was under no illusions when he stated that “the Americans don’t believe anything until they see it on television.”

Between the political elite and the Press, there is a largely hidden relationship that can only be described as incestuous.

U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson was a personal friend of Washington columnist Walter Lippmann. He conceded that the well-known writer could make or break him. This could happen while the electorate was still in bed.’

Lippmann’s column appeared three times a week in more than 200 American newspapers.

Responsible for drafting President Wilson’s 14 Points, Walter Lippmann’s document, penned in 1918, sealed the fate of overwhelmed Germany.

This newspaper correspondent might have played a crucial role. He may have set out the road map for the rise of Adolf Hitler. This rise ultimately led to World War II.

Lippmann was constantly courted by Soviet head of state Nikita Khrushchev. He played a leading role in bringing the Vietnam War to an end.

It was claimed that the public mood for this U.S. military débâcle was started by columnist Walter Lippmann’s formidable rival, Joseph Alsop.

The US President ordered 50,000 more troops to Vietnam. President Lyndon Johnson was heard to murmur: “There; that should keep Joe Alsop quiet for a while.”

Some have noted Alsop psyched up the public mood for the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, the sentiments of fellow columnist Walter Lippmann ended the winner-takes-all conflict.

This brings us back to scrutinize Tulsi Gabbard’s overview. She suggests that the EU and NATO ‘warmongers aim to undermine President Trump’s peace efforts.’

The Director of National Intelligence adds, “They are trying to engage the U.S. directly with Russia. She slammed Reuters for ’fomenting hysteria’ to sell the war.

Russia consistently rejects claims that it plans to attack NATO-aligned nations. President Vladimir Putin dismissed such claims as ’lies and nonsense.’

The Kremlin describes such accusations as warmongering tactics by which Western politicians use them to justify inflated military budgets.

A Reuters report published on December 19 claimed that ‘Vladimir Putin’s endgame is to reclaim parts of Europe. These parts belonged to the former Soviet Union.’

RIGHT: Tulsi Gabbard.

This is quite an accusation. We should recall that the USSR (1945-1990) occupied Europe from the Baltic to the Black Sea.

Reuters used the get out of jail option by citing ‘anonymous sources familiar with US intelligence.’

‘No, Washington’s Director of Intelligence points out: “This is a lie and propaganda. Reuters is willingly pushing this narrative on behalf of warmongers.

“They want to undermine President Trump’s tireless efforts to end this bloody war. This war has resulted in more than a million casualties on both sides.”

The outspoken Gabbard says Reuters are dangerously promoting a false narrative that blocks President Trump’s peace efforts. It foments hysteria and fear among the people.

This strategy aims to persuade people to support the escalation of the war. NATO and the EU really want this escalation. They aim to pull the United States military directly into war with Russia.

According to Gabbard, U.S. intelligence assessments reveal differing intentions. They indicate that Russia seeks to avoid a larger war with NATO. Russia lacks the capacity to wage such a war even if it wanted to.

Moscow insists it is defending its ethnic-Russian citizens in the Ukraine conflict. Russia accuses NATO of provoking hostilities. They claim the military bloc is derailing US-backed peace initiatives.

Pause for thought: “History will judge the Press as having caused the war. Of all Germans, believe it or not, Hitler is the most moderate concerning Danzig and the Corridor.” Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, 16th August 1939.

LIFE IN THE REICH Mike Walsh: FORBIDDEN HISTORY: The standard of living in Hitler’s Third Reich was extraordinary. It even surpassed that of the developed world. German workers enjoyed a lifestyle comparable to that of movie stars. Germany led the world in fashion, medicine, cinema, lifestyle, manufacturing, transport infrastructure, public facilities, cutting-edge science, healthcare and education. Amazon removed Life in the Reich. The book dared to show Hitler’s Germany as it was. It did not follow what the propagandists would have us believe. A real eye-opener: https://barnesreview.org/product/life-in-the-reich-hitlers-germany-1933-1945/
