While reading this book, I never wondered what Walsh had in mind while writing it. The dense, almost monolithic structure convinced me relentlessly. This book had to exist anyway. It had to be as it is, exactly like it is, down to even the slightest detail.

This revealing and enlightening book was required by a higher justice. With all due respect, Mr Walsh, it would have come into being even without you. Without you, it would have taken one or two centuries more for this book to materialize.

In this case, I would not have lived to read it. I would not have been trapped in a futile attempt to thank you enough. I always wondered what I would once tell my grandfather when I eventually meet him in Valhalla. Yeah, I will tell him: ‘Grandpa, I know what really happened. I understand what you had to go through. I will always love you because everything was explained to me by the great Michael-Patrick Walsh.’
