AGE CONCERN: My dear, as you grow older, you will enter the age of true wisdom. Remember one thing: take your time to teach others.
Even if you feel that you are right in your heart, remember how you were annoyed by your elders’ advice.
Think about how you felt at those times. It was the same advice you never asked for and which you were not going to perform anyway.
Don’t offer help unless they ask you directly, and stay out of your way where you are not welcome.
And the most important thing is, do not try to protect your loved ones from everything in the world. Just love them, quietly, in your own way, sincerely.
Do not complain endlessly about health, power, neighbors or pension, which you lack forever. Don’t turn into a grumpy grandma, life is too short for all the time being unhappy.

Don’t expect thanks from kids. Remember: there are no ungrateful children; there are parents who expect too often to hear ‘thank you’.
And don’t repeat phrases like: ‘In my age… I gave you the best years of my life… ‘Listen to me, I’m older – I know better.’
These words become heavy for you and for them.
When grandchildren arrive, don’t force them to call you by your name. If they say ‘Grandma,’ wear that title proudly. It is one of the warmest and most tender addresses in the world.
Do not waste your last money on miracle procedures promising to return youth. They are not working. Better spend it on a trip, a delicious dinner, or something that really makes you happy.

Don’t paint in the dark and don’t look in the mirror for too long, looking at every wrinkle. You don’t have to look younger. You just need to be well-groomed, calm and elegant. This is so much prettier.
Take care of your husband, even if he becomes wrinkled, forgetful or grunts for no reason. Once upon a time, he was the same person who made you laugh to tears. Perhaps now you are the last support he has left.
Don’t chase all the new technologies. You don’t have to understand everything that the modern world comes up with. Live the life that suits you. Do what you love, while you still have the strength.
Don’t blame yourself for anything. You did your best with what you had. In the circumstances you faced, it is more than enough.
Preserve your dignity till the last day. It is always important, regardless of age or life circumstances. And remember: if you are still here, it means someone really needs you.
