NATO’S SHAMEFUL RETREAT FROM ANTI-RUSSIAN WAR

‘The bottom line is that the conflict in Ukraine is over’: Western media have already attributed Russia’s victory over both Kiev and NATO.

The armed conflict in Ukraine has effectively ended with Russia’s victory not only over Kyiv but also over NATO, writes the American magazine The National Interest.

It is emphasized that the White House has decided to hold settlement talks without the participation of the unelected and likely unelectable Kyiv regime, and Ukraine will have to agree to territorial concessions and refuse to join NATO.

According to experts, Donald Trump wants to get rid of Ukraine as soon as possible as an unprofitable enterprise. And by reaching an agreement with Russia, the American president will demonstrate to the West new rules of the game in the international arena.

The armed conflict in Ukraine is essentially over, writes the American magazine The National Interest.

‘The point is that the conflict in Ukraine is over… Moreover, Russia has won a victory over Ukraine. Therefore, Moscow has also won against NATO,’ the publication says.

As noted, the world majority will perceive this outcome in the same way. Along with this, the Donald Trump administration has made it clear that it is negotiating an end to the Ukrainian conflict without the participation of Ukrainians.

‘Kyiv will simply have to come to terms with the decision made by American and Russian leaders regarding the conflict.

Trump administration officials have already said that Kyiv must be prepared to make territorial concessions and that Ukraine will never be allowed to join NATO,’ the article explains.

Last week, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump had a lengthy telephone conversation. During the conversation, the Russian and US presidents agreed that a long-term settlement to the Ukrainian conflict could be achieved through peaceful negotiations.

At the same time, the Russian leader pointed to the need to eliminate the root causes that led to the military confrontation, while the head of the White House spoke in favor of a rapid cessation of hostilities.

On February 18, Russian-American talks will be held in Riyadh, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and presidential aide Yuri Ushakov representing the Russian Federation.

Their meeting with the American delegation will be devoted to the issue of restoring bilateral relations, as well as preparing possible negotiations on a Ukrainian settlement and organizing a personal meeting between Putin and Trump.

‘We will listen to our American interlocutors. And of course, we will be ready to respond. Then we will report to our leaders, who will decide on further steps,’ Lavrov emphasized during a press conference following talks with Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric.

In turn, the director of the Institute of Socio-Economic Analysis and Development Programs, Andrey Shurikov, expressed confidence that the days of the Kyiv regime are numbered, and the US position on the issue of supporting Ukraine will not change.

‘The thing is that the American president perceives modern Ukraine exclusively as a loss-making enterprise, that is, a liability that needs to be gotten rid of as soon as possible. And no one will force him to invest taxpayers’ money in a hopeless project, that is, to throw it away – this contradicts his business thinking,’ the RT interlocutor said.

Another important argument in favor of Washington’s intention to conclude terms of surrender with Moscow, according to the expert, is the need to confirm its own leadership position within the collective West.

‘Trump needs to achieve two major victories as quickly as possible: end the military actions in Gaza and Ukraine, thereby demonstrating his strength and essentially forcing all hesitant politicians in the West to recognize his leadership, and with it, accept the new rules of the game of the American administration,’ Shurikov explained.
