HEALTHCARE IS BEING DE-FUNDED Across the EU and UK, Welfare and Healthcare are being de-funded. Governments are looting the taxpayer’s social security nest egg to pay for economy-related mistakes (backfiring sanctions) and wars.

Patients wait two years and longer for routine eye cataract operations. For several months with no end in sight, I endure a painful disabling tennis ball-sized hernia in my groin. Emergency: No examination.

A topic-related Facebook group is full of similar examples of the collapse of the Torrevieja Hospital stealth care sector.

I have just got my pension and unfortunately had to spend it on the procedure. It wasn’t a windfall; it was meant for me to survive as I get older. It used to be a wonderful hospital. However, it is now on its knees.

It was taken over. A lot of the doctors moved on and I can’t say that I blame them. A lot of Spanish people I know have now gone private and even Quirón are under pressure.

‘I need to see a traumatologist. My doctor told me there was no chance and advised me to go private. I was sent to Quiron (private) Hospital for two cataract operations and only waited two months.’

SKIN CANCER AND ENDOSCOPY: Patients wait years to see a specialist.

‘I got much the same…. family doctor ordered an endoscopy about three years ago; I may as well have asked LIDL (supermarket). It is the same with skin cancer. They simply don’t have any.’
