The world’s oldest man, John Alfred Tinniswood, has died in a nursing home in the UK. The Liverpool-born and raised gentleman turned 112 in August 2024.
The title of the oldest man was officially received by John Alfred Tinniswood in April of this year, after the death of Juan Vicente Perez Mora, who was 114 years old.
The new record holder was entered into the Guinness Book of Records. It is noted that he passed to the other side surrounded by his family.
John Alfred Tinniswood was born on August 26, 1912, in Liverpool, the year the Titanic sank. He met his wife Blodwen at a dance. They were married for 44 years. Tinniswood was widowed almost 40 years ago.
The centenarian has a daughter, Susan, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The man was the world’s oldest veteran of World War II. He spent most of his life working as an accountant for Shell and BP. John Alfred Tinniswood retired in 1972.
The man attributed his longevity solely to luck. At the same time, he noted that the active lifestyle he led in his youth helped him live to such an advanced age.
‘You either live a long time or you live a short time, and there’s nothing you can do about it. I don’t feel my age, I don’t worry about it. That’s probably why I got here. I have no idea why I’ve lived so long. I can’t remember any special secrets. When I was young, I was quite active, I walked a lot,’ the centenarian once said.

The man did not follow any particular diet. On Fridays, he liked to have a portion of fish and chips. His main advice for staying healthy was to practice moderation. Until the end, he did many of his daily tasks without outside help. He managed his own finances and also followed world news on the radio.
The title of the oldest man in the world is now claimed by Peruvian Marcelino Abad Tolentino. The potential record holder was reported by Pension 65, the national pension system of the Ministry of Development and Social Integration of Peru (Midis).
According to the authorities, the local farm worker was born in 1900. The Guinness Book of Records is currently reviewing the Peruvian application. PLEASE SHARE OUR STORIES
