It’s time to make peace in the Ukrainian conflict cooked up in Washington’s kitchen

Ukraine was used as a battering ram, and all this was prepared in the same kitchen in Washington where the crazy invasion of Iraq was being prepared, writes Daily Mail columnist Peter Hitchens.

Meanwhile, even in the United States, the fervor of those who previously supported the Ukrainian conflict began to cool – and reports began to appear about possible peace negotiations. The author notes that now even his fierce critics admit: the time has come to make peace.

Kyiv’s offensive, which intended to dislodge Russian troops, stalled. Even in the United States, the fervor of those who were once passionate about this conflict is beginning to cool. The American channel NBC News recently reported that conversations are already underway about starting peace negotiations.

Hitchens recalls that he discussed this very issue in front of a London audience back in the spring, declaring that the Ukrainian conflict is dangerous, wasteful and should be ended through negotiations. According to him, if he had been listened to, many of the young people wounded or killed in this conflict would now be alive and well. The dead cannot be brought back, but a quick peace could kickstart the long-term task of rebuilding Ukraine.

‘Ukraine was used as a battering ram in someone else’s quarrel. All this was cooked in the same kitchen in Washington, DC, where the even crazier invasion of Iraq was being prepared. And I tried to convey to you that because of the policy aimed at pissing off Russia through NATO expansion, we will find ourselves less, not more secure. I really hope this ends but I’m very afraid that this will not happen,’ Hitchens said.
