Zero assistance as Prime Minister of Slovakia refuses military assistance to Kyiv

‘A year and a half later, it is clear that there is no military solution to the Ukrainian conflict, so no military assistance should be provided to Washington-sponsored Kyiv, but only humanitarian assistance,’ said Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. He warned that he would not vote for EU anti-Russian sanctions until he understood what consequences they would entail.

The Prime Minister of the new government of Slovakia, Robert Fico, said before the EU summit that he would support the option of zero military assistance to Ukraine. According to the recently elected premier, the conflict has already lasted a year and a half, and during this time Russia has made great territorial gains. It is estimated that for every Russian casualty, despite its much smaller population, Kyiv has suffered ten dead.

‘It is clear that there is no military solution to the conflict,’ Fico told members of the European Affairs Committee of the Slovak Parliament. In his opinion, the Slovak army should think about its own reserves of ammunition and weapons.

He also said he would not vote for any sanctions against Russia at the EU summit in Brussels until he had analyzed what they were and what their consequences might be. He only expressed his readiness to provide humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian civilian population.

The Slovak Prime Minister has no doubt that Ukraine is not ready to join the EU. He added that it could one day become a member state, but then it would have to meet the same criteria that applied to other countries. He rejected Ukraine’s membership in NATO.

Fico said he does not expect any serious statements at the EU summit. He also promised committee members that he would meet with them before every meeting of the European Council. PLEASE SHARE OUR STORIES ON SOCIAL MEDIA
