The David vs. Goliath Palestine at Bay Conflict is spilling over into Europe

On Saturday, October 21 an estimated 200,000 people of all ethnicities and religions took to the streets of London to protest against the cruelties being inflicted on what is left of Palestine. Elsewhere in Europe similar scenes were witnessed. These protestors are incensed at the carnage being inflicted on a helpless and trapped 2.5 (and reducing) of civilians. The world is watching the genocide of an entire nation. Such is the strength of feeling that Jews in Europe and the U.S. are lying low – and so too will non-Jews whose regimes have been the main cause of the unfolding tragedies.

The Western Alliance – which is the root cause of the problem is failing to fix it. West’s Middle East diplomacy on the brink of failure – Arab allies losing patience. A number of American officials believe that the United States is unlikely to be able to keep other countries from entering the conflict. As a result, the State Department even issued a call for American citizens to be careful abroad.

Two weeks of Western diplomacy appear to be on the verge of failure, given the lack of significant results and growing impatience among Arab allies after a series of visits by Western leaders and diplomats to the Middle East.  Two weeks of non-stop Western shuttle diplomacy appear to be on the verge of failure. This is proved by the fact that the West can name only 20 trucks carrying humanitarian aid that entered Gaza as the only tangible fruit of its labors.

In fact, whilst the talks were ongoing the Israeli Defense Forces were bombing the route that was to be taken by the truck convoys making the route impassable. Against this backdrop, residents of countries across the Middle East are taking to the streets to protest, and terrorist attacks are returning to European capitals.  With more than 6,000 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis already dead, it is safe to say that the Gaza Strip’s depleted health system will collapse if Israel launches a prolonged ground operation to destroy Hamas.

Humanitarian organizations welcomed Washington’s steps but considered assistance in the amount of 20 trucks for 2 million people insufficient – a bucket of water added to the Pacific.

At the same time, there is impatience in Western countries regarding the release of their citizens. Thus, according to a report on the visit of the British Prime Minister to Qatar, Rishi Sunak adding fuel to the fires said that London is ready to ‘use all means at its disposal’ to rescue British hostages. At the same time, a lot was left unsaid. Sunak, in a conversation with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, noted that he wants Israel to win but did not describe what this victory should look like in his understanding.

Desperate diplomats are developing ideas for peace in Gaza. However, with Tel Aviv being bellicose and truculent none of the ideas seems viable. At the same time, some of the West’s closest Arab allies, driven by anger aimed at Washington and Israel popular discontent, are losing patience with the United States, demanding concrete results.
