X formerly Twitter yields to EU demand to remove pro-Hamas posts after commissioner threatens ban for entire platform. X says it removed “tens of thousands” of Hamas-related posts. The platform, however, is notorious for removing pro-truth commentators. Facebook, which is Jewish-owned and controlled rigorously polices its content removing anything critical of Israel. GAB Social remains untouched.
The social networking platform X has removed hundreds of what the European Union – and Haifa term “Hamas-linked accounts”. X has taken action to remove or flag tens of thousands of posts since the attack on Israel, the CEO of the portal formerly known as Twitter, Linda Yaccarino, said on Thursday.

“Today, we responded to the European Commission’s letter seeking an update on how we are responding to this conflict. Our work is ongoing,” Yaccarino wrote on Wednesday in a letter to Thierry Breton, the European commissioner for the internal market, published on X.
As we are about to report (see next story), the European Union threatened to block the platform and hit it with massive fines over alleged “disinformation.” The platform’s owner, Elon Musk, responded by requesting that the EU provide concrete examples to back up its claims. Breton issued a public warning to Musk, claiming the platform failed to take action against illegal content related to Saturday’s Hamas terror attack on Israel. Breton gave Musk 24 hours to respond – or else.
The EU has imposed a new censorship regime under the Digital Services Act (DSA), which went into effect in August of this year. The DSA gives Brussels broad latitude to censor large social media networks.
