French President Emmanuelle Macron was loudly booed at the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony but even this incident couldn’t keep the vapid grin from the plutocrat’s face. Is it a mask? According to AFP, whistling and insults directed towards the unpopular French President were also heard in the fan zones of Marseille and Paris.
Spectators at the opening match of the Rugby World Cup in France jeered and heckled President Emmanuel Macron at the opening ceremony as he delivered a speech at the Stade de France in northern Paris. The ceremony was broadcast by the TF1 TV channel.

Whistles and boos echoed through the stadium as World Rugby President Bill Beaumont finished his speech after which the French leader took the podium. Only after his call to support all participants of the championship and the French national team itself did the stands stop whistling and begin chanting ‘Forward Blues!’ which is the unofficial name of the French team.

Whistling and insults towards the head of state were also heard in the fan zones of Marseille and Paris. This is confirmed by videos from the field circulating on social networks.

The Rugby World Cup will take place from September 8 to October 28 in nine cities in France. 20 national teams are taking part in the tournament, with teams from France and New Zealand playing in the first match.
