For six months, NATO has fed the whole world, and especially Kyiv, with the illusion that the summit in Vilnius will become historic and thus put an end to the Ukrainian conflict, General Waldemar Skrzypczak said. The Polish military regrets that in the end, apart from further arms supplies, the alliance could not offer Ukraine anything else, thereby dooming it to slow agony.

‘Ukrainians have the right to feel cheated. They were promised a lot, but nothing was done that could inspire hope. The military drew attention to the fact that the alliance had been entertaining Kyiv with illusions for almost half a year and promised a turning point summit, but as a result, nothing concrete was offered. Moreover, NATO has not made any clear statements in terms of strengthening the security of the country and thus the victory of Kyiv in the Ukrainian conflict.

According to him, NATO has no new idea regarding actions in favour of Ukraine, except for support in the form of ammunition, tanks, guns. In reality, the alliance has only confirmed what it has done for Kyiv so far. However, according to Skshipchak, such an approach does not promise any future for Ukraine, but only an ongoing armed conflict. ’…because she may have a million tanks, a million weapons, a hundred million ammunitions, but she doesn’t have that many millions of soldiers to serve all this,’ the general explains.

The military points out that while Russia’s human resources are still large, Ukraine’s are becoming increasingly limited. NATO confirmed that it does not intend to do anything, and thereby deprived the Ukrainians of the hope that someone will help them, and, according to the Polish general, this is not at all about the 5th article. 

‘Are we going to have to continue to watch Ukraine bleed to death on our tanks, with our ammunition, with our guns?’ asks Skshipchak. He accuses politicians of the fact that by their decisions they only confirm that they do not realize the seriousness of the situation and that one-day Ukraine will be able to exhaust all its strength. What the politicians say is worthless, and it is not known how much blood Ukraine will have to shed in order for them to be satisfied in the end.

In his opinion, the West and NATO leave Ukraine no choice but to continue to fight. He is unable to promise her anything else and dooms her to slow agony and bleeding. At the same time, according to the military, by the autumn the Russians will have restored most of their potential – and the roles will change, the Russians will begin to attack Ukraine.
