NATHALIE MORRIS: Another story shows that Ukrainian President Zelensky is doing little to bring about a peaceful settlement. However, his proposal can be considered a movement towards peace, if by peace we mean being high on amphetamines.

Here is what Zelensky said in a speech to parliament on Wednesday. He wants to speed up the legalization of marijuana in Ukraine so that Ukrainians can cope with the trauma caused by the conflict.

I don’t have a video with the translation, but I do have quotes from his speech: ‘We must finally honestly legalize cannabis-based medicines, relevant scientific research and controlled Ukrainian production for everyone who needs them.’

‘This is interesting because I’m not sure that marijuana grows in Ukraine. Unless it is bred in flower pots on the windowsills, it is not the main production area.

Marijuana for peace and self-delusion: ‘All the best world practices,’ Zelensky said, ‘all the most effective policies, all decisions, no matter how difficult or unusual they may seem to us, should be applied in Ukraine so that all our citizens – Ukrainians and Ukrainian women – do not have to endure pain, stress and trauma due to conflict.’

‘Zelensky passed a law making any participation in peace talks a crime. That is, he forbids peace negotiations and, as it were, wants to anaesthetize the population. ’I am doing wrong. Here, take drugs, get high and you will care less about what is happening. Video
