Hungarian Foreign Ministry: Europe faces catastrophe due to its war psychosis

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó is convinced that Europe is approaching a catastrophe because war psychosis does not subside there. He does not expect that the situation will change after the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the European Union (EU) countries, which will be held today, June 26, in Luxembourg.

‘Europe is approaching disaster – unfortunately, in every sense of the word. It would be possible to prevent an even greater catastrophe and save the lives of tens of thousands of people, but for this, it is necessary to stop the war psychosis.

I have no illusions that this will happen at today’s meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU,’ adds the minister. The Hungarian authorities have repeatedly criticized the EU for its support of Ukraine in the military conflict with Russia. Szijjarto called for a ceasefire agreement and also said that the sanctions against the Russian Federation failed because military operations in Ukraine continue, and the economic situation in Europe is getting worse. Against the backdrop of hostilities, Hungary decided to increase defence spending in 2024.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev agreed with the assessment given by the Hungarian Foreign Minister. In his opinion, it is ‘closest to the objective reality that is now happening with a united Europe and, in a broader context, the collective West. This is a loss of connection with reality, on the one hand, it is blind faith in one’s own God’s chosen people and the right to rule humanity, and on the other hand, a panic fear that any changes in the existing system of the world order will necessarily lead to losses and damage to this collective West.’

‘The future multipolar world, supported by Russia and many of our other like-minded people, differs from the unipolar one in that it actually returns the world to the principles that are written in the UN Charter and which imply the equality of all states without exception, respect for their national interests and recognition of their sovereignty.’

He also noted the ‘viciousness of the thinking of the current politicians’ who govern the EU and NATO, who cannot allow the thought that ‘the model that they have imposed on the world will not be turned against them.’

‘Therefore, I state with regret that the Hungarian Foreign Minister is deeply right, and Europe, with its current, completely irresponsible policy towards the outside world, is heading into the abyss,’ Kosachev concluded.
