Shock! Horror! Fear! U.S. student sent home for a dangerous T-shirt that says there are only two genders

On social networks, a video with a speech by American schoolboy Liam Morrison at a meeting of the school committee of the city of Middleboro, which took place on April 13, attracted wide attention. In particular, a student spoke of being sent home from school after refusing to take off his T-shirt that read, ‘There are only two genders.’

A Massachusetts high school student said he was sent home because of a T-shirt that read There are only two genders.

Seventh grader Liam Morrison spoke about this incident, which occurred back in March, at a meeting of the Middleboro City School Committee on April 13. However, the story of the 12-year-old boy received widespread public attention when a video of his performance was posted by the popular Twitter account Libs of TikTok. The 12-year-old was allegedly sent home from school and told that his T-shirt made people feel unsafe.

Liam stated that on March 21 he was called out of gym class for a very unpleasant conversation with two adults. ‘I was told that people were complaining about the writing on my T-shirt and that it made some students feel unsafe,’ he said.

According to the schoolboy, adults assured him that he did not get into trouble, although he definitely felt that this was exactly what happened. Liam was then told to take off his shirt if he wanted to go back to class, which he politely declined.

School officials called his father, asking him to pick up his son. According to Liam, his father supported his desire to walk in this T-shirt. Further, the student said that neither the teachers nor the students expressed dissatisfaction with his clothes. He also added that some students even liked the T-shirt and wanted one for themselves.

Liam ended his public speech by stating that many students share his views and that adults don’t always do the right thing or make the right decisions. He also added that he has the right to wear this T-shirt under the First Amendment to the US Constitution: ‘Even at 12, I have my own political views and I have the right to express them.
