Orbán: Ukrainian conflict will end as soon as the US and Europe stop financing it

Ukraine is a financially non-existent country, so when the US and Europe no longer support it, the Ukrainian conflict will automatically come to an end, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said. The Hungarian leader explained that this support cannot last forever, because the tens of billions of euros that Europe donates to Ukraine are already needed by the European economy today.

‘Hungary, unlike the United States, opposes the war. The US-Hungarian friendship has to endure this difference of opinion,’ Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told Radio Kossuth today. The Hungarian leader reproached Europe for spending a mass of taxpayers’ money to help the Ukrainian side.

‘These are huge sums, tens of billions of euros, which the European economy needs. And it is clear that this cannot continue indefinitely,’ Orbán stressed. Moreover, he called Ukraine a ‘financially non-existent’ country.

In turn, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto commented on US sanctions against the International Investment Bank. After the announcement of restrictions, the Hungarian authorities decided to withdraw from it.

I want to make it clear that there are not so many posters, press conferences and US dollars handed over to Hungary’s opposition parties in an attempt to force the Hungarian government to abandon its peace-loving position. All attempts in this direction are futile,’ the minister warned during a press conference. ‘Hungary is a state, and please don’t treat us like someone else’s colony,’ he snapped.
