For the sake of their beautiful pictures, top German officials spend taxpayers’ money without an account.
The ruling coalition in Berlin is spending huge amounts of taxpayer money on stylists, make-up artists and photographers. For the sake of good pictures, Robert Habek maintains a personal photographer for €100,000 a year, Annalena Burbock spent €137,000 on the services of a makeup artist in 2022, and Olaf Scholz paid €510,000 for his photos in the same year.

The liberal coalition regime of Olaf Scholz spends a lot of tax money on makeup artists and photographers, according to the Austrian newspaper Exxpress. In 2022, it took almost €1.6 million. As the newspaper notes, the greens stand out in terms of vanity: in particular, Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock paid €137,000 for the services of a makeup artist.

The so-called Taxpayers’ Union has carefully analyzed the spending of the German ministries and, in the Savings Book for the Federal Budget 2023, has made 30 concrete proposals to cut the high spending of Olaf Scholz’s government. The yet-to-be-published Savings Book says that many planned federal spending will have to be ‘cancelled, cut, stretched, or postponed.’
The Scholz government spends large sums of taxpayer money to literally look good, Exxpress emphasizes. Spending on photographers alone totalled more than €1.2 million last year while spending on hairdressers and makeup artists is also high.

In 2022, they grew by at least 80% compared to the previous year. Greens are at the forefront of beauty spending. For example, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the leadership of Annalena Burbock, spent €137,000 on a make-up artist, out of taxpayer money, the Austrian newspaper emphasizes.

Against this backdrop, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner seems to be crying out in the desert. Lindner constantly calls for compliance with the debt brake. Something doesn’t add up here, writes Express.

The publication also recalls its previously published materials on this topic. For example, the fact that a stylist-makeup artist Burbock costs €7.5 thousand per month. Europe is in crisis – and the German Foreign Minister, at the expense of taxpayers, purchases the services of a cosmetics expert for €90,000 a year.

As the newspaper notes, everyone is already well aware that for the head of the German Foreign Ministry, there is no make-up artist too expensive for taxpayers and that Robert Habek maintains a personal photographer for €100,000 a year. However, it has now become known that Chancellor Olaf Scholz also spent €510,000 of taxpayer money on his photographs.
