The self-destructive crisis in the European Union deepened further as anti-Globalist Italy confronts globalist France over gross betrayal. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni accuses the double-dealing French President Emmanuel Macron of betrayal amid a dispute between the two countries over who should take in migrants.

Paris froze plans to take in 3,500 migrants from Italy under a European redistribution agreement and invited other countries to do likewise after the new populist government in Italy refused to allow the NGO ship Ocean Viking to land, instead diverting it to France.

As stated in the article, Meloni was struck by the ‘aggressive reaction’ of the French government, calling it incomprehensible and unjustified. She also noted that Italy has received 90,000 migrants from the Mediterranean this year, including 600 from NGO ships on the same day that France agreed to take a paltry 234 from Ocean Viking.

In addition, Meloni stressed that the voluntary scheme for the redistribution of migrants, agreed by the EU countries in June, did not achieve its goals, since out of 8,000 people who were supposed to leave Italy, only 117 were resettled, including 38 to France. 

She specifically noted that Italy cannot be Europe’s port for all migrants arriving from Africa and called on the European Naval Mission to block the exit from North Africa and open hotspots to identify migrants.

Earlier, on November 10, Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said that the European Union was pursuing a ridiculous migration policy. According to Crosetto, the indiscriminate acceptance of refugees is unacceptable, as they need to be given decent support. The Minister called for concrete steps to be taken to solve the problem of migration.

Before that, on October 1, information appeared that in the Czech Republic in recent months the number of cases of illegal smuggling of refugees into the country has sharply increased. According to the Czech police, a quarter of the people helping with illegal migration turned out to be Ukrainians.
