Thousands of protesters marched through central London yesterday. Its participants, who came to the capital from different parts of the country, demanded that the UK return to the European Union.

The demonstrators ended their march on Parliament Square, which has turned into a yellow-blue sea due to the many flags of the European bloc. The captions on some of the posters the protesters came carrying read: ‘Brexit will never work’, ‘Returning to the EU for lower bills’, and ‘We voted to stay’. 

Warwickshire teacher Nikki Ajibade, 60, was at the rally with her sister.’ We firmly believe that the situation we are in now is rooted in the 2016 referendum, which was ostensibly a consultative one. Most were not overwhelming. 52 percent versus 48 is not the result after which it is necessary to radically change the country,’ she told the publication.

‘It’s been six years – and look where we are. Therefore, we are sure that we need general elections and a reasonable government now, and not this bunch that behaves like rats in a poke,’ the woman added.

She called the very idea of a possible return of Boris Johnson to the post of prime minister ‘ridiculous’ and outrageous. Even mentioning his name as a possible candidate is a real insult to the British people,’ Ajibade said.

The audience shared her views. They began to express their displeasure loudly when politicians advocating for the country’s exit from the EU, including Boris Johnson, appeared on the big screen overlooking the square.
