In 2021, former Democratic Movement MP Rémy Daillet was planning a coup d’état in France. According to the newspaper Le Parisien. He gained many supporters and formed an insurrectionist group. Also, the ex-parliamentarian, according to counterintelligence, began to coordinate sabotage.

The newspaper Le Parisien wrote about the attempted coup d’état in France. According to the newspaper, it was prevented by employees of the Main Department of Internal Security of the republic.
Counterintelligence found out that the ex-deputy from the Democratic Movement (MoDem) Rémy Daillet and his supporters were planning to commit a coup d’etat. In late October, the former parliamentarian was arrested on suspicion of organising attacks on Covid vaccination centres.

According to the investigation, Rémy Daillet created what the media describes as a ‘terrorist community’ with an extensive network of branches throughout France. It consisted of many active and retired police, gendarmerie and military officers. Some of them are now abroad. Investigators learned about this while investigating the connections of the ex-deputy.
In particular, Le Parisien names among the conspirators a 63-year-old retired lieutenant colonel named Christophe M., holder of the Order of Merit before France. The publication claims that he was the founder and curator of the military wing of the movement, which had a strict hierarchy. After examining the correspondence between community members, investigators identified at least 36 captains, each of whom was responsible for their region.

Charges have already been brought against 12 conspirators; the investigation of the criminal case continues. At the same time, counterintelligence became aware of Rémy Daillet’s connections with other movements, including with National Socialists who were planning an attack on a Masonic lodge in Alsace. In May 2021, a court indicted three detainees in this case.
At the end of 2020, Rémy Daillet launched active propaganda of his views and calls for an uprising in France. Having recruited supporters, the ex-deputy began to coordinate sabotage, in particular, against communication towers of the new 5G standard, as well as operations to intimidate journalists.

In April 2021, he sent a message to French parliamentarians with slogans that ‘the republic is no longer the dominant idea’, ‘the hour of reckoning has come and ‘the overthrow of power by the people is inevitable.’
Rémy Daillet also pointed out that all this is a matter of several weeks and if there is no response from the addressee, he will be considered ‘an accomplice in the crimes.’ One of the deputies who received this message submitted an application to the prosecutor’s office, which led to the start of the investigation.

By that time, Rémy Daillet had already recruited several hundred supporters who were involved in the dissemination of conspiracy theories and participated in violent actions during the mass protests in France. For example, the ‘captain’ of the cell in the capital region of France, Sylvain P., appeared in police reports among the participants in the invasion of the BFM television building during the protests of the ‘yellow vests’ in September 2020.
According to investigators, this was a ‘drill’ before a real media takeover in the course of the alleged coup. To carry out a coup d’état, Rémy Daillet and his supporters planned to gather troops of like-minded people from all over the country in Paris, equipping them with police shields and homemade explosives. It was assumed that after a series of provocations, it would come to the use of weapons by the gendarmes. This was to be the reason for the conspirators to turn to bloodshed.

The second stage of ‘Operation Azul’, as it was called in the organization, meant the seizure of the Elysee Palace, the buildings of the Parliament, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of the Armed Forces. At the same time, they hoped to seize one of the TV channels or radio stations in order to conduct their propaganda from there.
Rémy Daillet disputes any terrorism charges. ’He only called from Malaysia for the peaceful and popular overthrow of the existing political system as part of the exercise of his freedom of expression and conscience,’ says his lawyer Jean-Christophe Basson Larbi.

Last spring, retired French police officers issued an open letter to the authorities of the republic and to President Emmanuel Macron, urging them to prevent the deterioration of the security situation in the country. In addition, an appeal from a group of retired generals and an open message from a group of active military personnel were previously published. Source
