Brown University’s Costs of War Project estimates that the US (taxpayers) spent some $2.26 trillion on the conflict and illegal occupation of Afghanistan over the past two decades. More than 100,000 Afghan civilians, tens of thousands of Afghan security forces personnel and Taliban fighters, about 3,500 US and NATO troops and 4,000+ Western mercenaries were killed in that time, with hundreds of thousands more injured, and millions becoming refugees.
INCONVENIENT FACTS
‘War is a profitable business, they say, so much so, it seems, that the US has placed it at the heart of its economy. This is why US politicians and military officials have claimed that Russia poses a threat to their nation and its allies, adding that Washington’s only real enemy is peace.’ ~ Finian Cunningham. ‘Arguably, the US economy as we know it, dominated by Pentagon, corporate, Wall Street and congressional interests, would cease to exist were it not for the gargantuan government-subsidized military budget.’
‘War is the terrorism of the rich. Terrorism is the war of the poor.’ ~ Peter Ustinov. ‘The U.S. has as much interest in peace as does a condom maker in abstinence.’ ~ Stephen Donovan.
‘A study reveals that the USA has turned out to be the greatest post-war threat to peace. Of the 248 conflicts world-wide since the end of WW2, the USA has started 201 of them. They snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in Korea. Dropped three times the total bomb-load dropped in WW2 on Vietnamese peasants. Dropped the equivalent of five Hiroshima cities on villages in Cambodia. Of recent years, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and Libya have been little more than war crimes on a massive scale, the full horrible aftermath has destroyed any efforts at world stability, the full effects of that madness we have yet to be subjected to.’ – Correspondent.
